Applying

A: It depends on how many people are interested, but I’d guess roughly 30-40.

A: See the applications page. I’ve tried to make this pretty comprehensive.

A: So long as it’s under 30 pages, it’s fair game.

A: All contributors must be 18 by September 1, 2025. (Since this is the end of the creation period.)

A: There will not be any prose fic in the fanbook, however, you’re still welcome to apply to write a script for a comic. Find out more here.

A: Well, yes, just as long as you’ve played Rise from the Ashes. But the casebooks are remarkably easy to find online, silly, and a good indicator of the kind of panelling that will work well with the fanbook dimensions, so I’d recommend checking them out anyway.

Technical

A: The same dimensions as the official casebooks – 5 x 7.5 inches, portrait.

A: For profit.

A: Obviously, yes, and they would have every right to do so. However, there being an extensive list of prior successful Ace Attorney fanzines (and reams of fan merch), I’d be surprised if Capcom took an issue now.

A: Our team can work out arrangements on a case by case basis.

A: Yes, and we’ve contacted a few already. However, there’s plenty of room for applicants, so please don’t hesitate to apply!

A: We aim to provide all contributors with at least a copy of the physical book.

Content

A: Include your idea in your application pitches. I’m very open to the concept. However, the main focus will be on the Rise from the Ashes cast.

A: I’m flexible depending on how many people apply, but I’m hoping to get about 300 pages worth of enjoyable art and comics overall. There’s a lot of merch ideas I’ve had sitting in my big planning document as well…

A: Yes. It should be appropriate for the same audience as the games.

A: This is not a shipping zine, and shipping should not be the focus  – but if it’s some combination of canon/funny… Include your ideas in your pitches anyway.

A: This is a canon-based project. However, especially for 4koma, Rule of Funny applies, so some canon divergence is fine.

A: If you have an idea for a longform comic that has the characters involved with an original case (or similar scenarios), then yes. Otherwise, no.

Yes. Both timeskips and flashbacks are fine. In both cases, supplemental characters may be included as appropriate. (For example, an Ema-focused comic set at the time of Apollo Justice may include Klavier, Apollo, etc.)
