Veteran's Day kinda threw me for a loop...
...I forgot the libraries were closed.
2:21 PM 11/11/08 · Swung by Kinko's and coughed up a $20 which gave me about an hour's computer time. Not the kinda thing I'd do normally, even when I am actively employed, but I had a bunch of stuff to post that I really didn't wanna hold over until the following day...
...which would be when I post this.
While it does occasionally present problems, I write most of my stuff offline. Generally this means when I get to an online connection I'm pretty much ready to go with a bunch of prepped text files. This does save me the problem so many have when they're writing a post and then something goes all wonky on LJ and they lose the whole thing. My way I've got a "hardcopy" version to backup whatever I could lose.
Just a matter of cutting and pasting and remembering not to delete the original file until I check to see the post went through okay.
The fact I put the writing date on my posts is a little more key and troubling to some. I posted a big ol' thing Saturday and someone asked me if it was a re·post since the dates (wrote it over several days) were all from about 3 months back.
I only put the writing date on stuff I wrote offline.
Stuff I write while online, still do them up in notepad so I can save myself from whatever LJ glitch might pop up, I don't put the writing date on.
Funny thing is I don't use a spellcheck program as I usually trust myself to catch and errors while I'm writing it or if I doublecheck the post before posting. It never ceases to amaze me. when I'm reading something I just posted, how many letters I left out or grammatical errors got by me.
The other downside of going via Kinko's instead of the library was I had no chance to check my email. Hell, I barely had time to skim my friendspage. Tuesday, all told, I posted about 7 different text files. 5 of them were xposts and total they went out to probably about 20 different communities. There was my most recent rant about Proposition 8, a review of this alst week's episode of Heroes, my thoughts and opinions regarding the new series My Own Worst Enemy, one Q&A, and an interesting little adventure I had waiting for the train Monday.
Hey, when I get insomnia I've found writing usually helps me konk out after a bit.
If I could just focus on one thing I could've been published years ago.
