A few Sims 2 images that I shared over on Tumblr a few days ago. I hadn't played TS2 in some time - yet again - and it was the most fun I've had playing in a long while. I'd forgotten how easy it was to decorate in TS2! The simplicity of choices makes it so much easier to pick this or that colour or pattern; it's fantastic! If it wasn't for my upcoming TS3 Asylum challenge, I doubt I would probably play TS3 over TS2 anytime soon. But anyway, enough rambling from me. On to the pictures!

Recently [as in very just] I overhauled my userpics and thought I would share some of the icons I made! They're mostly scenery from various worlds, all rather colourful and quite lovely I think. Feel free to take any, with credit of course, and please no hotlinking or claiming as your own. All icons were edited using my "Holy colours, Batman!" action.

In anticipation - and celebration, I s'pose - of The Sims 3 Supernatural coming out in a few days I made a heap of icons from various pictures I found floating around the interwebs, including but not limited to : howling werewolves, toadstool stealing zombies, fairies full of swagger and enchanting witches. Also frog people, ghosts, a vampire that looks suspiciously like a debonair Edward Cullen, and a tonne of scenery icons because Moonlight Falls is beyond pretty. Feel free to take any, with credit of course and please no hotlinking/claiming as your own. All icons were edited using my "Holy Colours, Batman!" action. :3

oh the Sims 2, how I've missed you

After spending the last few days downloading a lot (and I do mean a lot) of amazing CC that I've missed these past couple of months I finally managed to play TS2 tonight. And boy did I realize just how much I've missed it. Admittedly I also realized that I want to change my defaults, download more clutter, and perhaps start a new ts2 legacy. But in lieu of that - because I didn't have enough time to do so this evening - here are some pictures, namely of my new(ish) sim, Tabitha Catchlove, my new(ish) neighbourhood Happy Valley and a random kitchen. Because random kitchens are cool beans... Right? ;)

RAMBLES:
Inspiration for this house admittedly came from Grand Designs, specifically the Corkellis House by Kathryn Tyler. I did, however, add an extension and re-arrange the floor plan a bit. Speaking of floor plans, you can see them here: 1 | 2 | 3. Included in the download is also a picture of St. Claire, with a huge, hard-to-miss arrow pointing at where the house would idyllically be placed, as well as what little custom content I used and couple of preview pictures. The house is on a 40x35 lot, cost §51,542 and comes with a bonus tree-house out the back. Well, I think that's about all the info, so please enjoy and let me know if there are any problems! Oh, and thanks to littlecatsims/littlecatsims or requesting the house in the first place. :D

DOWNLOAD THE PHOTOSHOP ACTIONS SET

INCLUDED:

"Holy Colours, Batman!" : the main action, consisting of layers that brighten and add vibrancy to the image.
HCB - selective colouring : actions that adjust certain colours depending on which you choose.

EXAMPLES:

LARGER VERSION & UNEDITED S2 // LARGER VERSION & UNEDITED S3

NOTE:

This set does not include cropping, resizing or sharpening as part of the actions. Ideally one would crop the image, add the action(s), then add an unsharp mask layer (filter > sharpen > unsharp mask), resize the image and add a sharpening layer.
Also not included is the radial (grey - two shades) gradient layer that I add after using the HCB action. If you're curious, I simply drag the gradient layer over the image and set to overlay, 80-100%. E.T.A: I accidentally did include this as part of the download, but it's still not quite right, so I would suggest skipping over/deleting HBC - part 2.
If you find your image is a little too bright, go to edit > step backward and it will undo the flattening, thus allowing you to adjust the opacity of the curves layer.
Have fun with these! Pick them apart, use them all the time or sporadically, leave them in a folder to gather virtual computer dust -- whatever you like. Just let me know if there are any problems and enjoy! :)

HANDY TIPS:

Use a screenshot program - such as Fraps or Gadwin - rather than the in-game camera to take your screenshots.
Always edit your image before resizing.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE WITHOUT PHOTOSHOP: *

Duplicate the background layer
Set to screen, 30% opacity
Add a new layer (#1)
Colour fill/Bucket fill layer #1 with #bbbbbb
Set layer #1 to soft light or overlay, 50% opacity
Add a new layer (#2)
Colour fill/Bucket fill layer #2 with #d1d1d1
Set layer #2 to soft light, 10-15% opacity
Flatten the image
Add a curves (lighter r-g-b) layer, adjusting somewhere between 80-100% opacity, depending on how bright you want your image; here's an image of the settings / roughly where the 'dot' should be
Flatten image once again
Add a layer of vibrance, amount 100 in Photoshop. Replicate with saturation, 20-30% (or thereabouts). Leave on normal

OPTIONAL (post saturation):

Add a new layer
Select gradiant (black/grey/white colouring) and change the shape to radial
Drag over image so that the lightest part of the gradiant is in the middle, or alternatively where the light source of your image is. Preferably have the two colours of you gradient being two different shades of grey
Proceed with step #1

* These steps may need to be further adapted to certain programs that you may use to edit. I tested it quickly in GIMP and it seemed to work much the same as the main "Holy Colours, Batman!" action. Fiddling around should do the trick, but feel free to send me a message if something seems not quite right. :)
** In relation to the PSP script: just in case the curves doesn't hold the "curve" the settings are Output: 125 Input: 103

I can't believe it's 2012. 2011 seemed to positivel fly y. The time difference between myself and a lot of you peeps here, and on Tumblr, made for a very timey-wimey circumstance where the New Year was concerned. I mean, it's one thing being hours ahead, but in a different year? Crazy. Anyway! I come bearing recolours of the base game tank top made untuckable by Amaryll, a belated New Years/Happy Holidays present, if you will. Even though I can barely take any credit, seeing as how the mesh edit is by Amaryll, and the colours by huning. I just mashed the two together because I really, reall ❤ asic clothing.

INFORMATION.

You've reached the simming journal of Eversims/Everharts/Kayla. Here you'll find copious amounts of picspam, a smattering of downloads, and few real life related posts. I tend to ramble, and get distracted very easily by other things - for all intents and purposes I might as well be a cat. But really, I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams. I have all EPs and SPs for the Sims 2, and all current EPs for the Sims 3, as well as Master Suite, Fast Lane and Town Life SPs. I play both as much as I can on my fancy shamcy Alienware laptop, called Optimus Who. Feel free to browse, or add, I usually nearly always add back. Locked posts are very rare.

[TS2] RESOURCES.

My game has been maxis match for what feels like forever. I love colour, and patterns, and the Ikea SP. I have around 3.2GB of TS2 custom content, with countless folders and sub-folders. My favourite part of the Holiday season - and July - is the Advent Calender, Secret Santa and Christmas in July threads over at Garden of Shadows. I suggest you raid those. The Booty is your pirate best friend, and More Awesome Than You is your annoying big sister that you love anyway. I get all Sims 2 store stuff from this thread, and Sims 3 store stuff from an amazing tumblr that's pretty easy to find if you look close enough. editing screenshots the [old] eversims way

Let me preface this by saying that I use Gimp, a free editing software, but I'm sure it would be extremely simple - and possible - to convert what I do in Photoshop. (edit: link to PS action at the bottom of the post, thanks to selenaq13) Also, the way I edit may not work on all screenshots, it really depends on how you like your images. What also makes for pretty images is a pretty graphics card; I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Resize. (I usually go for a 500-600px width)
Duplicate the background layer
Set to screen, 50% opacity.
Add new layer (#1)
Bucket fill layer #1 with #ffb369 (a light orange)
Set layer #1 to soft light, opacity 20%
Add a new layer (#2)
Bucket fill layer #2 with #af9c9c (a beige)
Set layer #2 to soft light, opacity 50%
Flatten image
Sharpen (Somewhere between 5 and 10)

EXAMPLE:

Unedited (S2) // Unedited (S3)

OPTIONAL (Before flattening and sharpening; for a lighter image):

Add a new layer (#3)
Bucket fill LAYER #3 with # d1d1d1 (a light grey)
Set layer #3 to soft light, opacity 30%
Proceed with steps 10 and 11

You know when you're in Create-A-Sim, having spent a while perfecting the sim of your choosing and then you can't think of a name for them? I know I often find myself at a loss when it comes to choosing a name on the spot. So, to remedy such a situation, I put together a list of names for future reference and thought I would share it here with you all.
