How to Create Your First Event with EventKoi

Pre-requisites: You must have activated the free or pro EventKoi plugin on your WordPress site.

Step 1: Create a new event

Option 1: Via dashboard

After activating EventKoi, in the plugins page, click on Dashboard under the EventKoi plugin.

Or click EventKoi on the left menu panel.

From the dashboard, click on Add new event.

Option 2: Via Events list

  1. Hover over EventKoi in the left menu panel and click on Events.
  2. On the top right side, click the button Create event.

Step 2: Enter event details

Fill out the key information for your event:

  • Event name – Give your event a clear, descriptive name.
  • Event Date & Time – Select either standard or recurring events. Then set the start and end date/time using the date pickers.
  • Location – Add the physical address or a custom label (e.g. “Online via Zoom”).
  • Description – Add event details, agenda, or speaker info using the text editor.
  • Featured Image – Upload an image that represents your event.
  • Event template – Select or edit the design template of your event page. You can leave it at “Default” for now.
  • Calendar – Select which calendars your event will show up in. You can leave it at “Default calendar” for now.

If you don’t have all the information right now, just give your event a name. That’s the only required field to save and publish your event.

Step 3: Save, preview, publish

On the top right hand, you have the option to save draft, preview and publish your event.

Once you’re happy with what you have, click Publish to make the event live on your site.

That’s it!

Your event will now:

  • Show up on your site’s calendar.
  • Be available at its own URL (e.g. yourwebsite.com/event/author-meet-greet)
