Now you see, this is what happens when I start having fun playing around with Photoshop and Image Ready. Only problem is it starts to feel a little trippy when you look at them all together for too long!

I particually love the Network 10 idents so I've used them to death, the other clips are from the House charity t-shirt launch.

Weather icon actions

Two quick little actions for making snow and rain animated icons just like these...

Action set

There are four actions, however only the 'rain effect' and 'Big snow effect' actions created completed icons, the other tow are used to create each layer. I've made these actions in PSCS2, they will work to create the layers in PS7 (I've tried it) but you'd need to do all the animation.

When you're using make sure you start with an image 200x200px and a resolution of 72. Make sure you only have one layer called 'Background' (the easiest thing is to just flatten the image if you're dragging to a new image) or they won't work.

How to load actions
1. Unzip the weather.atn file to a suitable folder (I have an 'actions' folder in my documents)
2. On your actions tab (Alt+F9 if it's not showing)click the small arrow on the right hand side to open menu
3. 'Load Actions'
4. Select weather.atn from file you unziped to
5. Play selected action by clicking on it and then the little 'play' icon at the bottom of the tab

Once the action is finished all you need to do is save the file as a gif.

Icon colouring actions

Something a little different. I hope they can be useful for someone :) 1 Action set containing 10 actions for colouring icons. I've made these in Photoshop CS2, I'm not sure if they'll work in other versions or not *sorry*

*ETA* I've tried the actions in PS7 and PS5.5. They work okay in PS7 (but you'll need to click okay when it prompts you to create a new doc), and unfortunatley they don't work in 5.5.*ETA*

I've zipped the file because my hosting seems to have difficulty with accepting .atn files so the file is tiny (less than 2kb!), you'll need to unzip the file with something like winzip first.

How to use the actions
1. Open the image you wish to use for your icon
2. Create a new image 200x200 px (RGB Mode)
3. Copy your desired image onto a new layer. This layer must be called Layer 1 for the actions to work, if you're just placing the image into the new document it should do that for you anyway.
4. If your 'Actions' pallette isn't showing, go Window and make sure there's a tick next to Actions
5. Using the menu on the Actions pallette choose Load Actions
6. Select the Colourins.atn file to load the actions
7. Simply click the action you want to use and click the play icon

It will then run the action and leave you with a 100x100 image.

Challenge idea

I'm working on a few resources at the moment but I've got an idea that's been brewing for a few weeks now so I thought I'd see the response from other people :)

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a month challenge? Where there's a new prompt each day (in this instance with it being art something like a different brush set or texture) with which to create a piece of art?

You wouldn't have to make something everyday, but you could if you wanted too.

So yes, I was just after a indication of if people would be interested. If you would be leave me a comment and I'll see if people are up for it.

I took my digital camera to the park with me this afternoon and took a few pictures :)

The pics are 1200x1600 so I've just added thumbnails under the cut, just click them to see the full size pics. I'd love to see what you use them for if you do, or opinions of other stocks you might like to see.

Wedding flower brushes

Now these ones are rather special to me! They're created from the embroidery detail on my wedding dress, and I've had one of the designs tattooed on my back this afternoon (my first!) The brushes are pretty huge, the biggest has a diameter of around 1100, but you can always scale them down to fit. Because they're rather big, the preview doesn't show them at all so I've posted another bigger pic of one (the one now on my back) so you can see the full effect.

In other news I got a new digital camera last weekend (we were getting one for my birthday which is a while away but this one was on sale now!) and I've been playing around so expect some hi-res stock photography and brushes to be on the way soon :)

Stitch brushes

I made these whilst I was working on my latest artwork, I needed something to create a stitched look but couldn't find what I was after... so here they are.

Firstly I'll have to apologise that these brushes will only work with Photoshop CS2 as they're not straight forward brushes, they use the different settings to allow the brushes to look like one continuious stream. I may be able to recreate them in PS7 so if anyone really wants them let me know and I'll give it a shot :D

I've found the best way to use these brushes is with paths by using the 'stroke path with brush' option but to be honest they'll probably work just fine if you're drawing with them as well.

I've put the preview under the cut because it's rather big

New brushes

I needed these for a piece artwork I wanted to do and I know there's been a request floating around so I thought I'd share

7 Ferris wheel brushes (although some are of the London Eye but you get the idea!). I made these with Photoshop CS2 but I've also made an image pack if you want to use them with other versions or programs.

Forgive the preview being a little rubbish, I was trying to get the file size as small as possible to save everyone's friends list.
