Ethnicity: Czech<\/strong><\/p>\n Jan Rube\u0161 was a Czech-Canadian bass opera singer and actor, of stage and screen. He was mostly known for his 1980s\/1990s performances. His roles included the films Forbidden Journey<\/em>, Lions for Breakfast<\/em>, Mr. Patman<\/em>, The Amateur<\/em> (1981), Witness<\/em> (1985), One Magic Christmas<\/em>, Dead of Winter<\/em> (1987), The Outside Chance of Maximilian Glick<\/em>, Blood Relations<\/em>, Something About Love<\/em>, The Experts<\/em> (1989), Courage Mountain<\/em>, The Amityville Curse<\/em> (1990), Class Action<\/em>, Deceived<\/em> (1991), D2: The Mighty Ducks<\/em>, Roommates<\/em> (1995), Never Too Late<\/em> (1996), Snow Falling on Cedars<\/em>, and The Burial Society<\/em>; the made-for-tv movies Catsplay<\/em> (1978), Charlie Grant’s War<\/em>, The Marriage Bed<\/em>, Two Men<\/em> (1988), Coming of Age<\/em> (1993), The Birds II: Land’s End<\/em>, Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story<\/em>, The Christmas Secret<\/em>, and Our Fathers<\/em>; and the series Kay O’Brien<\/em>, Max Glick<\/em>, and Due South<\/em>.<\/p>\n He was the son of Ru\u017eena (Kellner\/Kellnerov\u00e1) and Jan Rube\u0161. After WWII, he graduated from the Prague Conservatoire, and was a bass singer at the Prague Opera House. He moved to Canada c. 1948.<\/p>\n Jan was married to Austrian-Canadian actress and producer Susan Douglas Rube\u0161 (born Zuzka Zenta Bursteinov\u00e1), until his death, with whom he had three children. Susan was born in Vienna, to a Jewish family, and moved to New York City, New York c. 1940, and then Toronto.<\/p>\n He is said to have been the great-uncle of Czech reporter, documentarist, vlogger, tour guide, and director Janek Rube\u0161.<\/p>\n
