Gus’s paternal grandmother is Helen Aschinoff (the daughter of Irving\/Izzie Aschinoff\/Ashinofsky\/Aschnoff and Jennie Eagle\/Egel). Helen was born in New York, to Jewish emigrants. Irving was born in Vilna, then in the Russian Empire, the son of Louis Aschinoff and Pauline Rabinowitz. Jennie was born in Austria, the daughter of Joseph Egel and Sarah Reichback.<\/p>\n

Gus’s maternal grandfather was Jimmie Dale Simmons (the son of Alpha Omega Simmons and Eva Caudle). Jimmie Dale was born in North Carolina. Alpha was the son of W. W. Simmons and Jennie Hemmings. Eva was the daughter of James R. Caudle and Bessie F. Wall.<\/p>\n
