He co-created the <em>Scooby-Doo<\/em> franchise, beginning with the show <em>Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!<\/em>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/ethnicelebs.com\/ken-spears\">Ken Spears<\/a>. The two also co-created the shows <em>Dynomutt, Dog Wonder<\/em>; <em>Jabberjaw<\/em>, and <em>Fangface<\/em>. They co-founded animation production company Ruby-Spears Productions.<\/p>\n<p>He was the son of Mildred and Carl Ruby, a doctor. He was of Polish Jewish\/Russian Jewish\/Lithuanian Jewish descent. His father was born in Canada, or in Kolno, now in Poland. His mother was born in Canada, to immigrant parents. Ken served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was married to Carole, until his death, with whom he had four children.<\/p>\n<p>Joe&#8217;s paternal grandfather was named Joseph Rabinowitz\/Ruby (the son of Daniel Avigdor Rabinowitz).<\/p>\n<p>Joe&#8217;s paternal grandmother was named Esther Feiga Zezel\/Fanny Vizanski\/Wicensky (the daughter of Kalonymus Vizanski\/Wicensky).<\/p>\n<p>Joe&#8217;s maternal grandfather was named Solomon Harris Fineberg. Solomon was born in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Joe&#8217;s maternal grandmother was named Sarah Steinhauer.
