Hines Ward is an American professional football player, and coach. A wide receiver, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He is wide receivers coach for Arizona State. He was previously offensive intern for the Pittsburgh Steelers, offensive assistant for the New York Jets, wide receivers coach for the Florida Atlantic, and head coach for the San Antonio Brahmas, as well as head of football development for the Alliance of American Football. He was voted Super Bowl MVP<\/a> for Super Bowl XL (2006).<\/p>\n

Hines was born in Seoul, South Korea, the son of Kim Younghee (Hangul: \uae40\uc601\ud76c) and Hines Ward. His father is American, and is African-American. His mother is Korean. Hines was raised mostly in Atlanta and Forest Park, Georgia, U.S. His parents divorced when he was one.<\/p>\n

Hines is married to Lindsey Georgalas-Ward. He has a son from a previous relationship; and a daughter with Lindsey.<\/p>\n

Hines has been an advocate for social change in South Korea, to encourage social acceptance of biracial children there. He was a member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, under Barack Obama.
