Michael Schur is an American television producer, writer, director, and actor. Known for his work on sitcoms, he co-created, and was a producer and writer on, the U.S. The Office<\/em>, Parks and Recreation<\/em>, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em>, co-created Rutherford Falls<\/em>, created, and wrote for, The Good Place<\/em>, and was a producer on Master of None<\/em>. He has also been billed as Ken Tremendous.<\/p>\n

Michael is the son of Anne and Warren Schur. He was raised in West Hartford, Connecticut.<\/p>\n

Michael is married to producer and writer J. J. Philbin, with whom he has two children. J. J.’s father was television personality Regis Philbin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michael’s paternal grandfather was Norman Warren\/William Schur (the son of Isaac Harry Schur and Martha Reinherz). Norman was born in Massachusetts, and was a lexicographer and lawyer. Isaac was born in Russia, the son of Baruch Schur and Sara Traub. Martha was born in Massachusetts, to parents from Russia\/Poland, Isaac Berman Reinherz and Sarah Neche Witkowsky.<\/p>\n

Michael’s paternal grandmother was Marjorie Tas (the daughter of Emile Tas and Helen Teschner). Marjorie was born in New York. Emile was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, of Dutch Jewish and German Jewish descent, and was the son of Levie Tas and Mathilda B\u00fcchenbacher. Helen was born in New York, of Slovak Jewish and German Jewish descent, and was the daughter of Jacob Teschner and Goldine Strauss. Michael’s grandmother Marjorie had Czech Jewish and Austrian Jewish ancestry farther back.<\/p>\n

Michael’s maternal grandfather was Stephen Aven Herbert (the son of Stephen Aven Herbert and Lummie Belle Reynaud). Michael’s grandfather Stephen was born in Texas. Michael’s great-grandfather Stephen was born in Mississippi, the son of Stephen Horton Herbert and Mary Duncan McRae. Lummie was born in Texas, the daughter of Pierre Princeton Reynaud, whose father was from Louisiana, and whose mother was English; and of Lelia Augusta Riddick.<\/p>\n

Michael’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth J. Bratton (the daughter of Milford Bratton and Bertha Mae Champeno). Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania. Milford was born in Pennsylvania, the son of John W. Bratton and Jane\/Jennie O’Donnell, whose parents were Irish. Bertha was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Henry Champeno and Nettie A.
