Rick Springfield is an Australian singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, actor, and author. Once the lead guitarist and vocalist of pop group Zoot, he started a solo career after moving to the U.S. His solo songs include “Speak to the Sky,” “Jessie’s Girl,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “Affair of the Heart,” and “Love Somebody.” He starred in the film Hard to Hold<\/em>. He was a member of supergroup Sound City Players, with Dave Grohl<\/a>, Taylor Hawkins<\/a>, Rami Jaffee<\/a>, Paul McCartney<\/a>, Stevie Nicks<\/a>, Krist Novoselic<\/a>, Pat Smear<\/a>, Corey Taylor<\/a>, and Brad Wilk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rick is the son of Eileen Louise (Evennett) and Norman James Springthorpe, an Australian Army career officer. He is married to Barbara Porter, with whom he has two children.<\/p>\n

Rick’s paternal grandfather was William Charles “Willie” Springthorpe (the son of John Henry Springthorpe and Hannah Wootton). William was born in Harden, New South Wales, Australia, to English parents. John was born in Warwickshire, the son of John Springthorpe and Helen\/Eleanor Harriet Bushnell. Hannah was born in Staffordshire, the daughter of Charles Wootton and Matilda Lynex.<\/p>\n

Rick’s paternal grandmother was Wilhelmina “Minnie” Abbot (the daughter of John David Abbot and Laura Lea). Wilhelmina was born in Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia. John was born in Australia, to a Scottish father, Sylvanus Abbot, and an English mother, Cecilia Sarah Elizabeth Tainton, from Gloucestershire. Laura was born in Kent, England, the daughter of Robert James Lea and Elizabeth Slater.<\/p>\n

Rick’s maternal grandfather was William Henry Evennett (the son of Charles Augustus Evennett and Emma Elizabeth Thomas). William was born in London, England. Charles was the son of William Henry Evennett and Mary Elizabeth Lamb Hare. Emma was the daughter of John J. Thomas and Mary A.<\/p>\n

Rick’s maternal grandmother was named Mabel Lewis. Mabel was born in Kent, England.<\/p>\n
