Malcolm Young was a Scottish-born Australian musician and songwriter. He was the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist, and songwriter of the Australian rock band AC\/DC. Other members of the band include\/have included Brian Johnson<\/a>, Axl Rose<\/a>, Bon Scott<\/a>, Chris Slade<\/a>, his brother Angus Young<\/a>, and his nephew Stevie Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Malcolm was the son of Margaret and William Young, who were born with the same surname. He was the brother of musicians Alexander Young<\/a>, George Young<\/a>, and Angus Young. His family moved to Australia during his teen years. He was married to O’Linda Irish, until his death, and had two children.<\/p>\n

Malcolm’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his third great-grandfather, William Young.<\/p>\n

Malcolm’s paternal grandfather was William Young (the son of Alexander Young and Margaret Allen Galbraith). Alexander was the son of William Young and Jane McBeth, who was Irish of descent. Margaret was born in Scotland, to Irish parents, Allen Galbraith and Ellen Rodgers, who were possibly of Ulster-Scots background.<\/p>\n

Malcolm’s paternal grandmother was Jeanie\/Jane Mitchell (the daughter of Malcolm Mitchell and Mary Ann Kay). Jeanie was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Malcolm was the son of James Mitchell and Elizabeth Clacher. Mary Ann was the daughter of James Kay and Mary Ann McGovern.<\/p>\n

Malcolm’s maternal grandfather was Alexander Young (the son of William Young and Jean Young). Alexander was born in Glasgow. William was the son of Alexander Young and Jean Thomson. Jean was the daughter of Alexander Young and Margaret Lammie.<\/p>\n

Malcolm’s maternal grandmother was named Margaret Haslett.<\/p>\n
