Alaska is the daughter of Am\u00e9rica Jova Godoy and Manuel Gara L\u00f3pez. Her father was born in Asturias, Spain, and was living in Mexico in exile during the Spanish Civil War. Her mother was born in La Habana, Cuba, and also lived in Mexico in exile due to the Cuban Revolution. Alaska is married to Spanish singer, songwriter, journalist, writer, manager, and radio and television personality Mario Vaquerizo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alaska’s maternal grandfather was named Julio Jova Pichardo (the son of parents surnamed Jova Gonz\u00e1lez-Abreu and Am\u00e9rica Pichardo Arias). Julio’s paternal grandparents were Juan Jova y Jova, who had roots in Sitges, Catalonia, and of Mar\u00eda Jacinta Gonz\u00e1lez-Abreu y Jim\u00e9nez, whose grandfather was born in Marchena, Andalusia.<\/p>\n

Alaska’s maternal grandmother was Mar\u00eda Caridad Godoy Cuebas (the daughter of Felipe Godoy Herbert and Bel\u00e9n de las Cuebas).\u00a0Felipe was born in France, and was a possible descendant of Manuel Godoy, who was Prime Minister of Spain, from 1792 to 1797, and who had been born in Extremadura, of Portuguese descent; and of Philip Herbert, the 4th Earl of Pembroke and 1st Earl of Montgomery.
