She is the daughter of Annabelle Rosal Rama and actor Eddie Gutierrez<\/a>. Annabelle came from Cebu. She is the half-sister of actor Tonton Gutierrez<\/a>, and the sister of twin actors Richard Gutierrez<\/a> and Raymond Gutierrez<\/a>. She has two children with her former husband, Turkish businessperson Yilmaz Bektas.<\/p>\n

Ruffa is a third cousin of American musician Bruno Mars<\/a>. Ruffa’s paternal great-great-grandparents, Mariano Herranz Heras and Mamerta Ca\u00f1izares Secuya, were also Bruno’s maternal great-great-grandparents.<\/p>\n

Ruffa’s paternal grandfather was Antonio Atayde Gutierrez, Jr. (the son of Antonio Mar\u00eda Rogelio Guti\u00e9rrez del Campo and Mar\u00eda Paz Victoria Garc\u00eda y Atayde, or Mar\u00eda Paz Victoria Garc\u00eda Atayde in Filipino). Ruffa’s grandfather Antonio was born in Santa Mesa, Manila, Metro Manila. Ruffa’s great-grandfather Antonio was Spanish, and was born in Santander, the son of first cousins Antonio Luciano Mar\u00eda Guti\u00e9rrez Azp\u00farua and Filomena Segunda del Campo Guti\u00e9rrez. Ruffa’s great-grandmother Mar\u00eda was Filipino, of ethnic Spanish background. She was the daughter of Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Atayde y Acosta, or Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Acosta Atayde in Filipino, and of Rosal\u00eda Paz Garc\u00eda y Mirs, or Rosal\u00eda Paz Mirs Garc\u00eda in Filipino.<\/p>\n

Ruffa’s paternal grandmother was Mary Rufina Herranz Pickett (the daughter of John Thomas Pickett and Jesusa “Susa” Herranz Ca\u00f1ezares). Ruffa’s grandmother Mary was born in Tondo, Manila, Metro Manila. Ruffa’s great-grandfather John was a Canadian of English and Scottish descent, who was born in Ontario, the son of Andrew Pickett and Mary Ann McLaren. Some sources inaccurately reported him as an American citizen. Ruffa’s great-grandmother Jesusa was born in Hagonoy, Bulacan, the daughter of Mariano Herranz Heras, who was from Nava de la Asunci\u00f3n, Segovia, Spain, and of Mamerta Ca\u00f1izares Secuya, who was classified as “india” (indigenous), and was born in Talisay, Cebu, Philippines. The surname Secuya is also spelled as Sycuya, which is of possibly Chinese origin, but it is not clear if Sabina had Chinese ancestry.<\/p>\n

Ruffa’s maternal grandfather was Laurente Genson Rama (the son of Vicente Rama and Catalina Genson). Laurente was born in Cebu City, Cebu, Central Visayas. Vicente was born in Cebu City, and was a legislator, publisher, and writer. He was the son of Gabriel Raffi\u00f1an y Buz\u00f3n, or Gabriel Buz\u00f3n Raffi\u00f1an in Filipino, and of Engelberta Rama. Ruffa’s great-great-grandmother Engelberta was born in Naga, Cebu, the daughter of Laurente Rama and Juana Enguio y Mangila, who herself was the daughter of Ram\u00f3n Enguio and Teodora Mangila. The surname Genson is of possibly Chinese origin, but it is not clear if Catalina had Chinese ancestry.<\/p>\n

Ruffa’s maternal grandmother was named Feliciana Rosal.<\/p>\n
