Thurman Thomas is an American professional football player. A running back, he played for the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Thurman is the son of Terlisha and Thurman Lee Thomas. He is married to golfer Patti Mariacher, with whom he has four children.

Thurman’s maternal grandfather was Nolan J. Cavness (the son of Monroe Caveness and Lizzie Ashley Rowls).

Thurman’s maternal grandmother was named Dorothy Mae Thompson.
