Sarah Barthel is an American singer and multi-instrumentalist. She is one half of music duo Phantogram, alongside Josh Carter.

Sarah’s paternal grandfather was James Edward Barthel (the son of George Barthel and Mary Stasoff). James was born in Lackawack, New York, and was of German, Dutch, and possibly Czech, descent.

Sarah’s paternal grandmother was Lillian Frances Hoerner (the daughter of Charles Hoerner and Louise Sophia Tamm). Lillian was born in Shandaken, New York, and was of German ancestry.

Sarah’s maternal grandfather was George Demarest (the son of Gottfried Dammer and Katharine Adelheid Poestges). George was born in New Jersey, and was of German descent.

Sarah’s maternal grandmother was Kathleen Marie Hall (the daughter of Isaac John Hall and Mary Ellen Driscoll). Kathleen was born in Passaic, New Jersey, and was of half Dutch and half Irish ancestry.
