Rosalía is the daughter of María Pilar Tobella Aguilera and José Manuel Vila San Segundo. Her father was born in Cudillero, Asturias, the son of a Galician father and of a Spanish mother, with roots in Ávila, Castilla y León​​. Her mother is of Catalan and Spanish descent, and Rosalía grew up speaking Catalan and Spanish. One of her great-grandfathers was Cuban.

Rosalía’s paternal grandfather was Manuel Vila García (the son of José Vila Blanco and Amparo García Carrera). Manuel was from Vigo, Galicia. José was Cuban-Spanish.

Rosalía’s paternal grandmother was Lucrecia San Segundo Hidalgo (the daughter of Fabriciano San Segundo Muñoz and Lucrecia Hidalgo Delgado). Rosalía’s great-grandmother Lucrecia was the daughter of Tiburcio Hidalgo Arévalo, a businessperson.

Rosalía’s maternal grandfather is Jaume Tobella Bosch (the son of Luis Tobella and Francisca Bosch). Jaume was born in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona.

Rosalia’s maternal grandmother is named Rosalia (or Rosalía in Spanish) Aguilera Torres (the daughter of Jaume Aguilera, and of a mother surnamed Torres).
