Philip Rivers is an American professional football player. A quarterback, he played for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, as well as the Indianapolis Colts, of the National Football League (NFL). He is head coach of St. Michael Catholic HS (AL). He is 6′5″.

Philip is the son of Joan, a teacher, and Steve Rivers, head coach of Decatur High School’s football team. His father and his brother, Stephen, have played college football. He is married to Tiffany, with whom he has ten children. He is a devout Catholic.

Philip’s paternal grandfather was Kenneth Edgar Rivers (the son of John Porter Rivers and Pernia/Pernie Sides). Kenneth was born in Alabama. John was born in Winston, Alabama, the son of Richard Malachi Rivers and Sarah Lou Wilson. Pernie was born in Double Springs, Winston, Alabama, the daughter of Moses Thomas Sides and Josephine Lettie Waid.
