Peter Ostrum is an American actor, and veterinarian. He starred as Charlie Bucket in the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), his only film role.

He was discovered at a children’s theatre production in Cleveland, Ohio. He was offered a film contract after playing Charlie, though turned it down. Peter is married to Loretta M. Lepkowski, with whom he has two children.

Peter’s paternal grandfather was Oscar Ostrum (the son of Ola Ostrum and Mary Jonson Pallson). Oscar was born in Russell County, Kansas, the son of Swedish emigrants, from Omma, Södra Åsum and Harlösa, respectively, both in Skåne. Ola was the son of Måns Jonasson Åström and Elna Olsdotter. Mary was the daughter of Jöns Påhlsson and Anna Persdotter.

Peter’s paternal grandmother was Helen May Gross (the son of Daniel Gross and Katherine Gardener). Helen was born in Bunker Hill, Russell, Kansas, of Pennsylvania Dutch/German descent. Daniel was born in York, Pennsylvania, the son of Daniel Gross and Mary Ann Neiman. Katherine was born in Ohio. Daniel was said to have had Sinti and Ashkenazi Jewish ancestors, described as Gypsies and travellers.

Peter’s maternal grandfather was Guy Raymond Pierpont (the son of Pliny Louis Pierpoint and Ora L. Hugus) Guy was born in Cairo, Ritchie, West Virginia, and was of Colonial American origin, with deep roots in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Pliny was born in Tyler, West Virginia, the son of Jeremiah Stillwell Pierpoint and Mary Rosalie Lazear. Ora was born in Little, Tyler, the daughter of Joseph Thornton Hugus and Mary V. Parker.

Peter’s maternal grandmother was Marjorie Marie Calvert (the daughter of Charles Richard Calvert and Serepta Mabel Cones). Marjorie was born in Lamont, Grant, Oklahoma. Charles was born in Leon, Butler, Kansas, the son of James Samual Calvert and Mary Huskins. Serepta was born in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel Fountain Cones and Mary F. Ferris.

    Strassberg also had a small Sinti community I figured if she is described as South Asian then she most likely would be Sinti

    Where is this guy’s supposed Jewish ancestry from? His Gross line looks prototypically Pennsylvania Dutch.
