Nick Mason is a British drummer, and motor racer. He was a founding member of progressive rock band Pink Floyd. Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright were also members of the band.

He is the son of Ailsa and documentary filmmaker and scriptwriter Bill Mason (Rowland Hill Berkeley Mason). Nick was raised in Hampstead, London. He is married to actress Annette “Nettie” Lynton. Nick has two children with his former wife, woodwind player Lindy Rutter; and two with Annette.

Nick’s paternal grandfather was Edward Daniel Mason (the son of Edward King Mason and Janet Susannah MacMillan). Nick’s grandfather Edward was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire. Nick’s great-grandfather Edward was born in Birmingham, the son of Daniel Mason, who was born in Llanbadarn fawr, Cardiganshire, Wales; and of Ann King. Janet was born in Wincanton, Somerset, the daughter of John MacMillan, who was Scottish; and of Jane Green.

Nick’s paternal grandmother was Elsie Ann Berkeley (the daughter of Rowland Hill Berkeley and Eliza Jeffrey). Elsie born in Aston, Warwickshire. Rowland was born in Handsworth, and was a grocery merchant, factory owner, and Liberal Unionist politician, who was Lord Mayor of Birmingham. He was the son of John Berkeley and Ann Hill.

Nick’s maternal grandfather was Walter James Kershaw (the son of William Kershaw and Sarah Charlotte Kershaw). Walter was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire. William was born in St John Hackney, Middlesex, the son of William Kershaw and Maria Lucinda Collisson. Sarah was born in Middlesex, the daughter of George Kershaw and Sarah Freeman.

Nick’s maternal grandmother was Alice Sabina Hirsch (the daughter of Henry William Hirsch and Eliza Mary Cartwright). Alice was born in Battersea, Surrey, England. Henry was born in Wandsworth district, Surrey, the son of Alexander Hirsch, a German emigrant, from Frankfurt am Main, Hessen; and of Ellen Mewes. Eliza was born in Wandsworth, the daughter of William Robert Cartwright, whose maternal grandmother was born on Kirk German, Isle of Man; and of Eliza Nixon.
