Swehla, whose parents were Bohemian Czech immigrants, and Anna Barta, who was herself a Bohemian Czech immigrant.

Mitzi’s paternal grandmother was Sigfinna Ingaldson (the daughter of Einar Ingaldson and Ingibjorg Gudrun Gudnadottir Olason). Sigfinna was born in Canada to Icelandic immigrants. Ingibjorg was the daughter of Gudni Olason and Margrét Þórðardóttir.

Mitzi’s maternal grandfather was Walter Raymond Cowan (the son of John Alexander Cowan and Sarah Ann “Sadie” Asay). Walter was born in St. Helena, California. John was the son of Northern Irish immigrants from Tynan, County Armagh, Francis Cowan and Ann McCormack. Sarah was the daughter of William Pedrick Asay and Sarah Jane Fullmer, and had deep lines in America.

Mitzi’s maternal grandmother was Elsie Iola Ebright (the daughter of Albert Henry Ebright Jr. and Ida May Wilhite). Elsie was born in Riverside, California. Albert was the son of German immigrants from Hanover, Lower Saxony, Albert Henry Ebright and Joanna. Ida was the daughter of William Lane Wilhite and Sarah Ann Short, and had deep roots in the U.S.
