Michael Fitzpatrick is a French-American musician, singer, and songwriter. He is the lead vocalist of the band Fitz and the Tantrums. He is also known as “FITZ.”

He is the son of Sylvie and Robert Fitzpatrick, an art academic and executive, businessperson, and politician. His father was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and later moved to the U.S. His mother was French. Michael was raised in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Michael is married to American actress Kaylee DeFer, with whom he has three children.

Michael’s paternal grandfather was John Dennis Meagher Fitzpatrick (the son of Robert Francis Fitzpatrick and Mary Alice Meagher). John was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to Irish parents. Robert’s family descended from County Fermanagh and County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. Mary’s family was from County Waterford.

Michael’s paternal grandmother was Rita Maxine Dunn (the daughter of John Thomas Dunn and Mary Kathryn Murray). Rita was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. John was born in Toronto, to a family of Irish and English descent. Mary was of Irish descent.
