Kurt Angle is an American professional wrestler, amateur wrestler, actor, and sports analyst. He won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Olympics. He is known for his involvement in WWE and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He has appeared in the films Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, River of Darkness, Warrior (2011), and Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies, and on the show OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes.

Kurt is the son of Jackie and David Angle, a crane operator. His brother is amateur and professional wrestler Eric Angle. He has said that he is of Italian, Irish, English, German, and Lithuanian ancestry. It is not clear where his English and Italian ancestry may come from.

Kurt is married to actress Giovanna Yannotti. He has two children with his former wife, professional wrestling valet and personality Karen Smedley/Jarrett; and three children with Giovanna. His niece, Erin Angle, is married to actor Jon Bernthal. Kurt is a Christian.

Kurt’s paternal grandfather was Robert Joseph Angle (the son of Robert A. Angle and Mary Friel/Freil). Kurt’s grandfather Robert was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kurt’s great-grandfather Robert was born in Wales. Mary was born in Pennsylvania or in Medonte, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of John Friel/Freil and Catherine Ruddy, who were Irish, from County Mayo.

Kurt’s paternal grandmother was Mary Virginia Gray (the daughter of Stepon/Stephen J. Zilaitis/Gray and Mary Lhakavic/Shakavic). Kurt’s grandmother Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Lithuanian parents.

Kurt’s maternal grandfather was John Peter Barwick (the son of John F. Barwik/Barwick and Frances B. Zyks). Kurt’s grandfather John was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
