James Yap

James Yap is a Filipino professional basketball player, and politician. He has been a Member of the San Juan City Council, since June 30, 2022. A shooting guard and small forward, he played for Star Hotshots, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, and Blackwater Bossing of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is nicknamed “Big Game James.”

James is the son of Annie S. Agravante and Carlos Relate Yap. He has three children, including a son, actor Bimby Aquino Yap, with his former wife, television host, actress, producer, product endorser, and businessperson Kris Aquino; and a son with his partner, Italian banker Michela Cazzola. He is Catholic.

James’s paternal grandfather was surnamed Yap. The name Yap is of Chinese origin.

James’s paternal grandmother was surnamed Relate.
