Jacques Audiard is a French film director, producer, and screenwriter. He has directed and co-written the films See How They Fall, A Self-Made Hero, Read My Lips, The Beat That My Heart Skipped, A Prophet, Rust and Bone, Dheepan, The Sisters Brothers, Paris, 13th District; and Emilia Pérez. For the latter film, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also co-wrote the films The Professional (1981), Deadly Circuit, All Mixed Up, Killing Time (1987), Frequent Death, Baxter, Australia (1989), Barjo, Dead Tired, and Venus Beauty Institute. He also wrote and directed episodes of the show The Bureau.

Jacques is the son of Marie-Christine Guibert and film director and screenwriter Michel Audiard (Paul Michel Audiard), who was a prominent figure in the French cultural scene in the 1960s and 1970s.

Jacques’ paternal grandmother was Juliette Angèle Lucie Audiard (the daughter of Jules Mathieu Audiard and Sophie Marie Louise Victoria Fleuriot). Juliette was born in Paris. Jules was born in Paulhaguet, Haute Loire, Auvergne, the son of Jean Pierre Paul Audiard and Antoinette Roche. Sophie was born in Tillenay, Côte d’Or, Bourgogne, the daughter of Antoine Fleuriot/Fleurlot and Catherine Augustine Baumont.

Jacques’ maternal grandfather was Léon Robert Guibert (the son of Charles Emile Michel Guibert and Jeanne Maria Gremaux). Léon was born in Paris. Charles was born in Dijon, Côte-d’Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the son of Marie Joséphine Guibert. Jeanne was born in Choye, the daughter of Claude François Gremaux and Claire Richelandet.

Jacques’s maternal grandmother was Odette Lécolle (the daughter of Edmond Lécolle and Marguerite Picard). Odette was born in Cézy, Yonne, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Edmond was born in Sougères-en-Puisaye, the son of Pierre Alexis Lécolle and Marie-Célinie Guillier. Marguerite was the daughter of Marie-Michel Maurice Picard and Marie-Anne Le Bihan.
