Gerald Casale, also known as Jerry Casale, is an American musician and singer. He is known for his work as the bassist, lyricist, co-lead vocalist and founding member of the band Devo, which also includes Mark Mothersbaugh and included Gerald’s younger brother, Robert Edward “Bob” Casale, until Bob’s death. He is also the front member of Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers.

He is the son of Catherine Maritta and Robert Edward Casale/Pizzute. His father changed his last name from Casale to the one of his own foster parents, Pizzute, then changed it back when Gerald was four years old.

Gerald’s maternal grandfather was Edward Cornelius Rogers, the son of Bernard Joseph Rogers and Winnifred B. Scalley. Edward was born in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Bernard was born in Pennsylvania, the son of Nealy Rogers and Mary Kunahan, who were both from Ireland. Winnifred was born in England, the daughter of Irish parents Thomas Scalley, from County Cork, and Bridget Gerrity, from County Mayo.

Gerald’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Mae Weiss, the daughter of Rudolph Weiss and Catherine Elizabeth Krieghbaum. Elizabeth was born in Middlebranch, Ohio. Rudolph was born in Germany. Catherine was born in Cairo, Ohio, the daughter of Johannes John Krieghbaum and Mary Ann Spitler.
