Evan Solomon is a Canadian broadcaster, writer, and politician. A member of the Liberal Party, he has been Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, both, since May 13, 2025; as well as, a Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre (ON), since April 28, 2025. He was the host of the shows Power Play and Question Period, and The Evan Solomon Show on radio; as well as several shows for CBC News.

Evan is the son of Virginia, an urban planner, and Carl Solomon, a lawyer. He is married to Tammy Quinn, with whom he has two children.

Evan’s paternal grandfather was Avraham Elchanan/Choneh Jacob/Jake Solomon (the son of Issie/Isadore/Yitzak/Isaac/Israel Sadovnik/Solomon and Mary/Miriam Shlofman/Schlapman/Schlasman/Silverman). Avraham was born in Kamenets-Podol’sk, Khabarovsk, Russia. Issie was born in Klishkivtsi, Chernivtsi, the son of Pincus/Pinchas Sadovnik/Solomon and Sarah/Sara Solomon Lifshits. Evan’s maternal grandfather was Mortimer Joseph “Mort” Margolius (the son of George Margolius and Anna Pyes). Mort Margolius was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was a community leader and theatre professional. George was born in Poland. Anna was born in Russia.
