Bryan Trottier is a Canadian and American professional ice hockey player. A centre, he played for the New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL), and for the Canada and the U.S. national teams. Regarded as one of the greatest players, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.

Bryan is the son of Mary and Eldon Joseph Trottier. His brother is professional ice hockey player Rocky Trottier. He has four children. His grandson, Parker Trottier, captained the U.S. to the gold medal in the men’s tournament at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics.

He became a U.S. citizen in 1984, through his Métis ancestry, Cree/Chippewa. He has a North American Indian Card, which gives him claim to citizenship in both the U.S. and Canada.
