Andrew Stanton is an American filmmaker, animator, and voice actor. He is known for his work at Pixar Animation Studios. He has directed the films Finding Nemo, WALL·E, both of which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature; John Carter, Finding Dory, In the Blink of an Eye, and the upcoming Toy Story 5. He also co-wrote all of his directed films, except for the fifth. He also co-wrote the films Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, both of which he was a story artist for; Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc.; and Toy Story 4; and the short film BURN·E. He has also been a writer for the shows Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures and Obi-Wan Kenobi, a director for the shows Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, Legion, For All Mankind, and 3 Body Problem; an animator for the theme park attraction The Making of Me; and a voice actor for many projects, including the theme park attractions It’s Tough to Be a Bug!, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

Andrew is the son of Gloria and Ronald Ayers Stanton, who founded a company that created radars for the U.S. Department of Defense. Andrew is married to Julie, with whom he has two children.

Andrew’s paternal grandfather was Richard Joseph Stanton (the son of Richard Henry Stanton and Agnes Virginia Godfrey). Andrew’s grandfather Richard was born in Yuma, Arizona. Andrew’s great-grandfather Richard Henry was born in New York, to a father from Germany and to a mother from Ireland. Agnes was born in Arizona, the daughter of Joseph H. Godfrey and Adelaide Roods.

Andrew’s paternal grandmother was Edna Louise Stovall (the daughter of Albertas Orr Stovall and Hallie Vaughn). Edna was born in Texas. Albertas was born in Tyler, Texas, the son of Jasper Calvin Stovall and Margaret Jane Lavender. Hallie was born in Texas, the daughter of Peter Pickens Postelle Vaughan and Amelia Edwina Connally.

Andrew’s maternal grandfather was Jack R. Ferro (the son of Joseph Rock Ferro and Adelaide Schleidt). Jack was born in Port Arthur, Texas. Joseph was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Italian parents, surnamed Ferro and Bernardi, respectively. Adelaide was born in Michigan, the daughter of German parents, Phillip Conrad Schleidt, from Spechbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; and Dora Dorothy Boyce.

Andrew’s maternal grandmother was Ruth Louise Merrihew (the daughter of Bertol Olaf Havens Merrihew and Ellen Louise Alcock). Ruth was born in Los Angeles, California. Bertol was born in Plattsburgh, New York, the son of Henry W. Merrihew and Deborah Havens. Ellen was born in White Pine, Nevada, the daughter of John Henry Alcock and Mary Florence Paddleford.
