Andrew’s paternal grandfather was John Richard Fortson (the son of Dallas Vandiver Fortson and Annie Ruth Thornton). John was born in Elberton, Georgia. Some of his ancestors were born on Barbados. Dallas was the son of Lonnie Nunnally Fortson and Lois Ida Herndon. Annie was the daughter of Dunston Verdell Thornton and Daisy Gertrude McCurry.

Andrew’s paternal grandmother was Susan/Sue Elizabeth Raley (the daughter of Floyd Elijah Raley and Carolyn Hattaway). Susan was born in Mitchell, Glascock, Georgia. Floyd was born in Mitchell, the son of Robert R. Raley and Gracie Wilcher. Carolyn was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the daughter of Alfred Bateon Hattaway, Jr. and Lena E. Kitchens.

Andrew’s maternal grandfather was Robert George Moffatt (the son of Frederick/Fred Joseph Moffatt and Cora Bell Kreider). Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois. Frederick was born to French-Canadian parents, Joseph Damase Eugene Moffet and Philomene Fortier, from Québec, and also had distant Scottish, Dutch, and Norwegian ancestry. Cora was the daughter of Albert Emery Kreider and Valetia Sherwood.

Andrew’s maternal grandmother was Eleanor Renata Pihera (the daughter of Frank Pihera and Josephine Anna Jezek). Eleanor was born in Broadview, Illinois. Her parents were born in Illinois, both of them to Bohemian Czech immigrants. Josephine was the daughter of Thomas Joseph Jezek and Josephine Zetek.
