What life? I've been away | 2013 Fic Summary
Just came back from my second viewing of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and of course I've been watching the new season of Sherlock (BBC), so essentially I've been getting an exceedingly high dosage of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman since the turn of the new year. BENE I'M GLAD I LIKE YOUR VOICE BECAUSE IT'S BASICALLY MOVED INTO MY EARS.
Hope everyone had a lovely New Year's!
Quick fic round-up for 2013 before I forget:
2013 FIC SUMMARY
Favorite story
Home Behind and Home Ahead (G | 5,400 words | The Hobbit; Thorin/Bilbo)
This story was so lovely and nostalgic to write, because The Lord of the Rings was the fandom I first started to write fic in, and diving back into Middle-Earth felt very much like coming home. It also seems very fitting that the narrative is from Frodo's POV, because Frodo was the one member of the Fellowship I could never get the nerve to write. I must admit that I had no idea where this story was going when I started it, but I'm very pleased with the end result.
Sexiest story
These Lost Sons (M | 4,000 words | Thor; Thor/Loki)
My inability to write smut continues strong, so I'm glad to have written any at all. That said, this fic is mostly an outpouring of my feels after watching Thor: The Dark World.
Hardest to write
such stars as sworn to shield the sky (M | 66,400 words | Merlin; Merlin/Arthur)
To be completely honest, I'm not at all happy with how this fic turned out. I think I became too ambitious, especially for how busy I was in RL at the time, and I really should have cut the story down or come up with something else the moment I realized how elaborate the story wanted to be. I'm still hoping to fix it up further in the near future.
Most fun to write
infixion (M | 37,300 words | Star Trek AOS; Kirk/Spock)
My primary goal for this story was ADVENTURE, and it was great fun coming up with possible shenanigans that the Enterprise crew could find themselves caught up in.
Longest story
such stars as sworn to shield the sky (see above)
This story took FOREVER to write, and my tendency to get carried away with world-building definitely did not help. Really should have organized myself better for this.
Shortest story
Miracle Doctor (G | 1,100 words | Star Trek/Supernatural crossover)
This year's dose of sheer self-indulgent crack, inspired by a gift comic from xsilverdreamsx. Great fun to write, and the crossover seems to work surprisingly well.
