I'm curating a space for you this spring the hills of Kingston, Jamaica. An intimate 21-day writing sanctuary where four writers at a time can find their way back to their words, their rhythm, and themselves. Picture mornings that begin with birdsong and gentle movement, days that flow with writing and rest, and evenings that close with drum circles and soul-stirring conversations. All in a home where ceiling fans turn lazily overhead and your only responsibility is showing up to the page. Registration is now open for 3-day, 5 -day or 7 day stays.
This note is for the writers who are looking for a little time away to be with their project. Whether to begin, to finish up, to keep chipping away at, or to finalize edits. Im inviting you for a little time away.
I've been thinking about time lately - how it moves, how we move through it, and most importantly, how to slow it down. This reflection has led me to create something special: a 21-day co-writing activation this April in Jamaica. Im calling it TheWriters House.
From April 1-21, I'm curating a space for fellow writers who are ready to slow down, breathe deep, and let their words flow in rhythm with the river outside our windows. Come for as many nights as you wish. Each day brings its own invitation to create - from guided writing workshops to peaceful mornings in botanical gardens, from beachside writing sessions to gentle yoga flows.
This is also a wonderful chance spend some time in a writing community. Each evening we will gather to discuss our work over dinner. A pleasant flow of guests arriving and departing over the course of our April dates will ensure the dinner table wont always look the same. A diversity of voices and connections will be lovely. Countless stories waiting to be written. Some of you might only be able to make it for a weekend. Others might be able to stay for 10 days. Whatever allotment you can give to your practice is worthy.
At $275 per night, your stay includes all your daily home-cooked meals, guided writing activities, optional off site activations throughout Kingston and the rare gift of unhurried time in the mountains of Jamaica. Time to write. Time to think. Time to be.
All are welcome. Will you join me in slowing down?
There is component of heartbreak where I feel gutted by the feeling of what donI do with this grief. The new of Nikki passing this morning had me scrambling for her words, her images, her lessons, her reminders.
What a legacy and blueprint that woman left for us.
In feeling a bit helpless I needed a “something” so this is it. As a indie bookstore owner there is a relationship to the authors I feel proud of. Also a relationship to community that fills me with just as much pride. So my something is to intersect the two with a book drive that will honor Nikki Giovanni’s legacy while ensuring her words continue to seed hope and possibility.
Honoring the legendary Nikki Giovanni (1943-2024) through the gift of literature. Join our book drive putting her powerful words into the hands of young Black women and girls. Each donation builds her legacy of creativity, courage, and truth-telling.

I’d love to hear what Nikki and her work mean to you. She changed me. Shaped how I think about many things. You know? If you don’t feel like sharing just drop an emoji to let me know you’re here. I like to know that you’re near 🌻
In these days that demand so much of us, I'm hoping to curate a soft landing space where we can breathe, write, and remember ourselves together. Root & Return is a 60-minute virtual gathering that weaves together Black feminist wisdom, gentle somatic practices, and the power of our own words.

We'll ground ourselves in the writings of Black feminists who have paved our way, move our bodies with intention, and create space for our stories to breathe. This is an invitation to come home to yourself in community—to remember that everything we need is already living in our bones.
No special preparation needed—just bring your whole self, a journal, and whatever comfort you need close by.
