MEDIALAB SRL, Italy<\/li>\n<li>USTANOVA HISA EKSPERIMENTOV, Slovenia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Project Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The STEAM field is one of the main agents of change in the 21st century. Efforts need to be made to create more awareness and interest in STEAM employment. The RAISE project was a step towards achieving this goal across several European Union countries.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission has worked towards reducing the skills mismatch being observed around Europe. Policies were drafted to address these skill shortages and surpluses due to changes in the employment sector, which required Europe\u2019s population to develop new skills. Through the project, information was provided on the qualifications and soft skills required by employees for particular STEAM careers, with VET education being given priority. By doing so, individuals were empowered while ensuring that everyone had equal access to knowledge about opportunities in the job market, not only in their home country but also in a total of 5 European countries.<\/p>\n<p>New Skills Agenda for Europe (2016) stated that by raising awareness of Vocational Educational Employment, more people would make vocational education their primary choice (European Commission, 2016, p. 3). Surveys (Rosa, Pisa &amp; Timss) show that 13- to 15-year-olds in developed countries do not believe that science is important for their careers (inGenious, 2014) and very few aspire to become scientists (ASPIRES, 2013). Furthermore, most students and families are not aware of what science can lead to in terms of careers (ASPIRES, 2013). The technological application produced in this project provided guidance and counseling on VET careers in Europe, with the primary focus placed on the partner countries, and helped to motivate users to take up a career in STEAM.<\/p>\n<p>A number of open educational resources were developed throughout the duration of the project, which were made available for educators and science communicators to download and use with their respective students and visitors. Career Caf\u00e9s and Career Days were organized to encourage dynamic, two-way interactions between students and professionals working in the field. Training was also provided to partner organizations, who held sessions with educators from partner countries to build a network of STEAM Ambassadors, all of whom worked towards achieving the objectives of the project.<\/p>\n<p>The project successfully achieved the below objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developed an app to raise interest and increase awareness in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) employment.<\/li>\n<li>Prioritized Vocational Education and Training (VET) careers within the STEAM field.<\/li>\n<li>Made VET career information more accessible to support inclusive education and emphasize vocational applied learning.<\/li>\n<li>Helped de-stereotype STEAM professions and shifted gender perceptions in relation to STEAM careers.<\/li>\n<li>Provided career guidance and labor market information to help individuals make well-informed decisions about STEAM careers.<\/li>\n<li>Offered guidance on the skill sets required for STEAM careers to bridge the skills gap.<\/li>\n<li>Raised the importance of work-based learning for skills acquisition.<\/li>\n<li>Inspired students to take up STEAM subjects through interaction with STEAM professionals, exhibits, and science communication events.<\/li>\n<li>Increased the science capital of families, boosting the likelihood of children pursuing STEAM careers.<\/li>\n<li>Tackled the issue of Early School Leavers by offering VET as an alternative education and career pathway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these resources can be accessed for free by
