[semi-hiatus notice] a brief goodbye and a contemplation of life

Dear my lovely friends,

I'm taking a break. I posted something similar to this on my icon comm and I really wanted to share why I'm choosing to take a break. I don't know if anyone cares but I wanted to post it anyway since even just personally, these are very theraputic. I don't think I've ever posted about my personal life here but Tuesday was an awful day and in general, this year has been insane for me. I've had so many things change in my RL and everything kinda just came crashing down on me Tuesday.

I don't know how the election results will affect my life, or even if it will affect my life personally. But, I did some soul-searching and finally decided to get my priorities in order. I love iconing, I really do. I loved spending time at my computer, working on my graphics skills (which I've actually gotten to use in RL) and being creative. But RL is sucking the life out of me and regardless of this week/election results, I know that personally, I need to make changes in my life. I haven't been prioritizing my RL (although it's not like online stuff is taking over my life) and I just haven't been focused. I really need to be studying, writing essays, making friends, reading textbooks, etc. You know, boring stuff like that.

I plan on continuing with my multimaker comms and modding elite-inspired and will occasionally post on motspeinture. Other than that, however, my presence in the iconing community will be limited. I just wanted to let you guys know that I really, love the icon community and loved being a part of it. You guys are all really nice people and I will miss being here. I hope to have more time to leave comments and appreciate all the great stuff you guys are coming up with in the future though.

I loved the four years I spent on the internet, I really did. But it's time to say good-bye for a bit - I will definitely be back. Here's to new beginnings!

Please leave me with any comments/suggestions you have about balancing RL and online stuff since right now, I have no idea how to do that. It seems like sometimes, I get sucked into writing, iconing, and doing other fun stuff and don't pay attention stuff that actually matters to my life.

Welcome to my journal! I am on a permanent hiatus from the internet but return each year to host dhr_advent, which is amazing!! But, here's a little about me:

I've been dabbling in fandom since 2011. All my fic is posted at AO3 but some of my earlier works can be found at FF.net and at Hawthorn and Vine (which is no longer a thing as far as I know). All my graphics & icons can be found at motspeinture!

So, SLYTHERINGURRL has been around for a few years and has followed me through multiple accounts. But, sadly, I think it's time to retire slytheringurrl :( Long story short, I'm not much of a HP fan anymore and it would be cool if my username didn't sound like a middle-schooler came up with it!
