As negotiations falter and the tit for tat military exchanges between the US and Iran continue, I suspect that Trump will be tempted to try what Richard Nixon tried in 1972 when the Paris Peace negotiations between the US and North Vietnam were stalled: namely, massive aerial bombing of Tehran and other Iranian cities like Nixon's "Linebacker" and Christmas bombing attacks on Hanoi and Haiphong in December, 1972. There are probably still some in the Pentagon who would argue that these raids were decisive in tipping the balance of the negotiations, but I would agree with Prof. Pape's conclusions that "whereas it compelled Hanoi to serious bargaining, Linebacker II made no substantial difference in terms of the agreement." (Pape, Bombing to Win, page 204) Unlike Nixon's football-related operation name, Trump will probably choose a wrestling term like Operation Blow Off (look it up).

I miss some analysis about the US blockade on Iran exports.
