Hey all. A few weeks ago, I started an ER series re-watch. It's been a blast so far, and I've just begun s4. Subsequently, Doug/Carol is kind of a big thing in my life at the moment. I've taken to pic spamming all of their great scenes, so this will certainly not be my last post here, ha. If you check it, I hope you enjoy! Also, I am 110% open to friending anyone who's interested. I have, like, a negative amount of ER flisters, and in light of my re-watch, I need people who appreciate the massive amounts of ER I've been spewing.

Hi! Aloha! I'm Lauren! I'm new here! I've been an ER fan since Season 5, but I've watched almost every season since then. I have seasons 1-7 on DVD as well as season 9. My favorite characters are Jeanie, Lucy, Abby and various patients they've treated. I also like Doug/Carol a little as well.

My favorite episodes are: Dead of Winter, The Scott Anspaugh Series, Stuck on You, Hazed and Confused, Rites of Spring, Double Blind, Getting to Know You, Last Rites, Greene With Envy, Truth and Consequences,” "Power," "The Good Fight," "Responsible Parties," "The Test," "Age of Innocence," "The Book of Abby," "Believe the Unseen," "They Treat Horses Don't They?," "Damage is Done," "A Simple Twist of Fate," "Bygones," the storyline about Little Susie and “Status Quo.” I look forward to getting to know other ER fans here!

i thought i'd stop and say hello, i just joined. if this is frowned apon, please delete it.

i first watched ER when I was younger. I always remembered and liked the episode where that girl died..and her friend was stabbed too. So when I visited my best friends house, we watched Be Still my Heart and All in the Family. Then...I sat until 7 in the morning and watched the rest of season 6.

Since then, I'm hooked.

I borrowed season 1 from a friend, half of season 4 on TNT, all of season 5 on TNT, I own season 6 (lol) and now I'm TiVoing season 7 at my moms house. I'm in college now, so I can't really watch what I want when I want. Sad.

My goal is to watch every episode, with all my other favorite shows I have (Buffy, Gilmore Girls, Degrassi:TNG)

Maybe I like the show so much because I myself spent some time in an ER, around Christmas. Or maybe because I would like to work in a hosiptal someday. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful show. And I'm hoping it will continue on as such.

Hi all,
Do you remember the season where Carter got stabbed in the ER? When that scene happened, there was a particular song that I liked. I can't remember the name of the song and I was wondering if someone knew what it was.

I heard it recently and I remembered it from the scene as well. (Weird how the mind does that). But I thought it was good. It's popular, or was back then, several seasons ago, when Kellie Martin was on.

From Life Support to Miraculous Recovery for ‘ER’

This should be an axiom of television programming if it isn’t already: Never take your most popular show off the air for three months in the middle of a season.
That was what NBC intended to do this year with “ER,” its long-running hit on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Of course NBC never expected “ER” to be its most popular show again.

But after three weeks of what can only be described as a stunning ratings performance by that 13-year-old medical drama, NBC has reconsidered its plan to shelve the series from January to April in favor of an untried drama called “The Black Donnellys.”

“I will confirm that ‘ER’ is not going to go away until the spring,” said Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment. “We are going to keep ‘ER’ in its time period for at least 22 episodes this season.”

The “at least” is also significant because rather than thinking of ways to supplant “ER” this season, NBC and the show’s creators are considering expanding the series to 24 or 25 episodes to cover more weeks of the season with original episodes.

The entire strategy for the future of “ER” is up in the air. David Zabel, who runs the show as executive producer, after the long tenure of John Wells, said the plan had been to get through this truncated season and then end the series after one more season next year.

In a telephone interview this week he said that idea was being rethought. “As long as we can keep doing what we’re doing, I don’t see any reason the show can’t keep going on,” he said.

Rather than relegating the series to part-time status this year, Mr. Zabel said, he is all for expanding it. Networks often order additional episodes of their most popular shows to limit the number of in-season repeats.

Mr. Reilly said NBC had initially concluded that “ER” was faring worse and worse with repeats during the season and wanted to give “The Black Donnellys” a chance to grab some of the audience available in the Thursday time slot. Yesterday’s decision to continue “ER” had nothing to do with the quality of “The Black Donnellys,” said Mr. Reilly, who called that new show excellent.

The remarkable turn of events for “ER,” which was presumed to be making a few last turns on the stage before heading for the exit, is entirely due to what the show has accomplished in the season that began last month.

“ER” has been asked to perform an operation that might seem far-fetched even in its own emergency-room plotlines. It has been assigned the job of saving a sagging network’s life on the most important night of the week.

NBC, which once dominated Thursdays — the night for which advertisers pay the most to reach viewers because of weekend events like movie openings and car sales — has been severely injured by the scheduling of the most formidable shows that two competing networks have to offer.

This season, with ABC adding the hottest show on television, “Grey’s Anatomy,” to Thursday nights at 9, facing off against what had previously been the most-watched show on television, CBS’s “CSI,” NBC has taken a ferocious beating in that hour. That meant that “ER” confronted a seemingly impossible task at 10 p.m.: recruiting an audience back to NBC on that show’s merits alone.

And that is exactly what “ER” has done. It is somehow among the top-rated shows this season despite these facts: In raw numbers ABC’s 10 p.m. show, “Six Degrees,” inherits 24.2 million viewers watching the preceding “Grey’s Anatomy” while “ER” inherits only 9.9 million viewers watching NBC’s “Deal or No Deal.” “ER” lifts that number to 15 million viewers while its ABC counterpart plummets to just 10.7 million.

The performance is even more impressive for “ER” in ratings for the 18-to-49-year-old audience that NBC uses as its main measuring stick of success. By that measure “ER” is the No. 4 show on television this season.

One key to the comeback by “ER” was CBS’s decision to move its resident hit in that time period, “Without a Trace,” to Sunday nights. “Without a Trace” had begun to beat “ER” consistently last season, one reason the NBC show faced so many intimations of mortality.

But Mr. Reilly argued that the consistent quality of “ER” has brought back viewers and attracted some new ones. “It never stopped being compelling television,” he said. “It still has that adrenaline rush and emotional impact.”

A subtle advantage that may not have been apparent originally has been the complete turnover of the show’s cast. Not one of the original actors, who included George Clooney and Noah Wyle, remains. “But younger viewers don’t know that group,” Mr. Zabel said, pointing out that a female fan in her early 20’s would probably have been a child in bed at 10 p.m. when the series started.

Now the show has added a familiar star, John Stamos, as a cast regular, which Mr. Reilly said was expected to give the show an additional boost. He plays a paramedic studying to be a doctor.

Mr. Zabel agreed with the prediction, saying, “John is a charming, dynamic character who brings us a color we didn’t have.” But he noted that the continuing stars Goran Visnjic and Maura Tierney have also taken off as lead characters on the series, although that has happened largely under the radar.

“They’re still the new guys,” he said, “even though they’ve been on the show for seven years.

Ausiello: It wouldn't be sweeps without a big-budget catastrophe on ER. Next month, Abby will find herself risking life and limb to pluck passengers from a bus that careened over an embankment. She'll also meet a cocky member of a medical transport unit (played by Vyto Ruginis), and sparks will fly.

...did they get the characters name wrong, or something? My first reaction: WTF?!
What about Luka..and baby Joe....?!

Maura Tierney's Marriage Flatlines

Sometimes there just isn't a cure for what ails you.
After 13 years of marriage, Maura Tierney is looking to divorce her husband, actor-director Billy Morrissette. The couple, who have no children, have been separated since Mar. 7.

The ER star--whose pregnant character, Abby Lockhart, was last seen collapsing in pain during the show's cliffhanger season finale in May--filed her petition Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences."

In the beginning, Morrissette and Tierney shared a true Hollywood romance--they met after both being fired from a TV series that was to star Ralph Macchio (but was later scrapped, in case you were wondering). The duo tied the knot in February 1993.

Morrissette, who as an actor had a number of bit parts in shows like Party of Five, Mad About You and Living Single, directed Tierney in the 2001 film Scotland, Pa. His missus played a Lady Macbeth-type villainess (named Pat McBeth, actually) who helps her husband configure a plan to murder his boss. Macbeth-style ironic tragedy ensues.

After her ER shift ended this season, Tierney starred opposite Eric McCormack in the off-Broadway play Some Girls. The 41-year-old actress' film credits include Liar Liar, Primal Fear and Primary Colors, and she starred on NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999. She scored an Emmy nomination for ER in 2001.

Per IMDb.com, Tierney also has two indie films in the works--The Go-Getter, costarring Zooey Deschanel and Jena Malone, and the coming-of-age comedy Diggers, with Paul Rudd and Lauren Ambrose.

Several Celebs to Guest Star on 'ER' this fall

BURBANK, Calif. - July 21, 2006 - NBC's "ER" (Thursdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) will provide a showcase for several marquee Emmy Award-winning and nominated guest stars this fall with a roster that includes Andre Braugher ("Homicide: Life on the Street"), John Mahoney ("Frasier") and a return appearance of Oscar and Emmy winner Sally Field, who reprises the series role that won her an Emmy. Fall Guest Stars Also Include Paula Malcomson ("Deadwood")

In addition, John Stamos ("Jake in Progress," "Full House") will become a series regular when he resumes his previous guest-starring role from last year as Tony Gates, a savvy paramedic and medical student. The Emmy-winning drama series will also feature other prominent guest stars, including Paula Malcomson (Trixie on "Deadwood").

Over a span of six episodes beginning in the season's fifth episode, Braugher will play a carpenter who enters the emergency room with a seemingly simple cough. But due to heavy patient congestion, he suffers a stroke while waiting despite the attempts of Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and his life eventually falls apart as a result of his paralysis. Earlier, Braugher starred on NBC's "Homicide" as a tough police murder detective and won an Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

In an offbeat casting, Mahoney will portray a performing drag queen who wants to assume legal authority for his dying partner's medical care. The Chicago-based actor was nominated several times for an Emmy for his performance as the lovably cranky Martin on NBC's "Frasier."

The two-time Oscar-winning Field ("Places in the Heart," "Norma Rae") returns to play the bipolar and problematic mother of Doctor Abby Lockhart (Maura Tierney) in the second episode. She won an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in the role four years ago (and also earned an earlier Emmy for her work in "Sybil").

Malcomson will appear in a multi-episode arc as the widow of Gates' (Stamos) deceased best friend and war buddy, a single mother trying to navigate the everyday hardships of child-rearing. She depends on Gates in many ways to provide a father figure for her daughter as well as companionship for them both -- and that includes becoming occasional lovers.

After a stint on daytime's "General Hospital," Stamos gained prime-time attention for his role as Jesse Katsopolis in "Full House." He later starred in the recent comedy "Jake in Progress" and the drama series "Thieves." In addition, Stamos has starred or appeared in several television movies, including "The Reagans," "Fortunate Son," "How to Marry a Billionaire: A Christmas Tale," "Sealed with a Kiss," "The Marriage Fool" and "A Match Made in Heaven." He also was executive producer of the miniseries "The Beach Boys: An American Family" and a producer on "Jake in Progress."

"ER" will premiere in its 13th season this Fall and will run with 12 continuous original episodes until its cliffhanger in December. The Emmy-winning series will then resume after "The Black Donnellys" completes its first season.

"ER" is executive-produced by Michael Crichton, John Wells, Christopher Chulack, R. Scott Gemmill and David Zabel. The drama is a production of Constant c Productions and Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.
