( spoilers for the whole gameCollapse )For those not in the know, Ghost Trick is a puzzle game about ghosts (already, I am utterly biased because I just love ghosts and ghost stories) that is produced by Capcom and directed by Shu Tamaki-- who also directed the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright games. You're already granted a good storyline, but for those of you who've played Ace Attorney, know this-- this is absolutely God Tier story telling. This game is a tight, well-oiled machine of plot-driving. You play as Sissel, who recently just died and has absolutely no clue who he is or how he died. He's given only one night of being a ghost with the power to manipulate objects to find out about himself and his death before ascending to the next plane. And with that, the story just flies so gracefully-- you're always at the edge of your seat and there's so many brilliant twists and turns to this game along with the playful humor you'd find in the AA games. Do you like Rube Goldberg machines? The game is for the most part playing around with a lot of that, manipulating the real world into doing exactly what you want in order to get your desired outcome. The animation is beautiful and really and subtly tells you a lot about each character through their movements. But seriously-- come for the story, stay for the story.
