Global Energy Outlook

Global Energy Outlook (EnerOutlook) is a free, online app that allows users to explore data through intuitive maps and graphs, providing a visual analysis of expected long-term trends in the global energy value chain.

The data can be viewed both globally and by world region. The tool offers robust projections on energy supply and demand, covering topics such as data centres, electricity, hydrogen, renewables, and related CO2 emissions. Users can easily download the projections database, fully or by individual section.

You can explore the key drivers shaping the evolution of energy system through 2050 in our EnerBlue scenario (aligned with NDCs and other national pledges), across 7 regional groupings and 5 countries: Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Türkiye and Vietnam.

  • Demand reduction: Improving energy efficiency and sufficiency to halve energy intensity;
  • Electrification push, with electricity accounting for nearly 40% of final consumption in 2050;
  • Emergence of new uses: data centre electricity consumption could reach 2 300 TWh by 2050, with Asia-Pacific and North America as key players;
  • Decarbonisation of energy carriers: 92% carbon-free electricity production and half of hydrogen produced by electrolysis by 2050;
  • And their impacts on resulting CO2 emissions.

This application is an excerpt of the complete EnerFuture global forecast service based on the POLES-Enerdata model. More projections for over 65 countries and regional groups, covering the three EnerFuture scenarios—EnerBase (current policies), EnerBlue (NDC-compatible), and EnerGreen (Below 2°C)—are available, along with detailed data series, on the EnerFuture global forecast service.
