Yesterday we went to see Kevin Spacey in Richard III. I must admit I was a bit afraid we wouldn't like it (the prospect of 3 hours of Shakespeare in English is scary) but it was incredible. The three hours went by quickly, and Spacey was just brilliant. His voice, his movements, everything. I loved the set design and the music, especially in the coronation and the battle scenes, with the drums on stage. The last act was so intense, both my mum and I got chills even though it was like 30ºC, and when it finished and we were clapping I was just speechless. I was so overwhelmed that I wanted to cry. It might have been some kind of Stendahl syndrome, idek.

Even though we were on the last row the view was excellent (the theatre is quite small) and of course, there were overtitles in Spanish. I tried not to read them but I couldn't follow, they spoke too fast. This is my first experience with a dramatic play, and what an experience omg.

You can watch some footage here.

Being back at the Festival is pretty awesome. I've moved from not knowing how most things are done (at the tourism office) to giving advice and tips on how to do things (to the new girls) like a guru, ha! I feel very confident, everyone seems very happy to have me back and I haven't messed up anything yet so yay! XD

I finally received my Pottermore email today and I got sorted into Ravenclaw! I didn't have any preferences (though I really didn't want to be in Slytherin) but I was expecting Hufflepuff (don't we all?) so it was a nice surprise. Earlier this week I was telling a friend how I missed doing English grammar exercises and he said: you're weird. Yep, huge nerd.

This week I went to see Cowboys & Aliens and I didn't like it at all. I was hoping it'd be at least as silly as its title and have a little fun, but nothing. I liked Daniel Craig but that was not enough. I hated Olivia Wilde's character. The dialogue was incredibly stupid, and I was seriously side-eyeing the guy behind me who laughed A LOT. I didn't talk about it later with my friend, but I don't think he liked it either.

And to finish this post, I'm going to congratulate my new favourite actor Michael Fassbender for winning at Venice. I was expecting it, since I read that he wasn't going to Toronto and they didn't give any reasons. In our festival winners are told asap so they can stay/come to the ceremony so I was hoping that was why. I can't wait to watch Shame, I'm even reaching Scott Pilgrim levels of anticipation. A colleague who's been at Venice told me that he was terrific and that I'd love the film.

I've been unsuccessful trying to get tickets to see Richard III. The servers are broken, they don't pick up the phone and apparently the only way is to go to Avilés to the box office... I cried a bit but now I've stopped trying. I'll try later and see if there's anything left... I was so sure I'd get seats. I mean, it's a freaking 3 hour Shakespeare play IN ENGLISH in a little town in the North of Spain... I didn't think so many people would be interested. Also everytime there was a Q&A with an important person (Alejandro Amenabar, Sam Mendes) I'd always get a seat, and that was free!

I also have to log in as unemployed and it wouldn't let me. But I didn't realise it was the 1st of September and I wouldn't be the only one finishing their contract xD So that makes sense. But yeah, I'm really upset. At least I pre-registered for the course to adapt my degree to the new ones (the University system changed to adapt it to the EU and we need to do another year). I'm not sure I did it right because they changed the system but I'll cross my fingers. It's only 40 spots, but we'll see. I'm not excited to do it, because I'm not sure I want to work in tourism anymore xD But I also don't want my degree to mean nothing in the future.

And that's all, I just wanted to get it off my chest.

EDIT: I've finally bought them! They are on the third to last row (the 20th) but in the middle and the day we wanted to go, so yay! I'm spoiled because when we go to the theatre we always get good seats, but after what happened today? Not going to complain to much xD

Good news everyone! On Monday I go back to the festival!! :D I'm very excited, even though the director is already giving me homework :\ My last day at the tourism office is tomorrow, and most of the tourists are gone so I imagine it will be quiet.

Last weekend was the cider festival, and I participated in a couple of activities, which is new because I never do anything xD I took part in a world record pouring cider (we were 7.576 people pouring it at once). Even though I've drunk a lot of cider I'd never poured it myself, and I must say I did quite good because I didn't throw half the bottle away! And it was very windy! Then the next day I went to the town square to sing some traditional songs. Again, never done it, didn't even know the songs, but I had a booklet with the lyrics and the music wasn't too difficult to learn. It was pretty amazing, the square was full and everyone was singing. We were probably the youngest in there xD but I had fun and I will probably come back.

I also went to the drive in cinema. I had gone when it first opened but never again. A couple of coworkers/friends (we've started doing things outside of work so I consider them friends too) suggested it and they were nice enough to call me so I went. The film was a Spanish comedy and it was just ok, but I enjoyed the experience. A shame that summer is ending and then it will be too cold to go xD We also went to see Super 8, which I loved. This time I went with one of the coworkers/friends who always complains of not having anyone to go to the cinema with, and it was lovely but strange because I'm so used to going alone or with my mum that other people's habits at the cinema feel weird. Like I never eat anything other than gummies and I bring my own Coke, but he bought a hot dog and a huge drink. If I had gone alone and seen somebody doing that I would have rolled my eyes so hard xDD I'm a snob, I admit it.

And last but not least, later this month I will be seeing Sam Mendes' production of Richard III with Kevin Spacey LIVE. It's part of the Bridge Project and they are bringing it to Avilés. The tickets go on sale on Thursday and I will probably go with my mum. It's not cheap, but alsdkfasdhfh.

The last time I posted I was happy about the first day... now it's time to talk about the last. I finish on the 31st August :(. On one hand I'm happy it's over because this job is so tiring and I've had enough with tourists and repeating the same stuff over and over again. But on the other I'm really not looking forward to go job hunting because I still feel lost. I found the perfect job, which was the film festival, but there's little money and I'm not sure they will hire me again, so I don't really know what I want to do besides that.

In other less depressing news, I have two days off and I was hoping I'd get the Pottermore email today or early tomorrow... but idk. My username is ThestralMarauder159, all the options were lame but I had to chose that one because it had Marauder on it. I wonder what house I'll be in, I really have no preference and I feel like I'm a bit of each. I wouldn't want to be on Slytherin but just because JKR treats them so badly. During the last film when they sent them all to the dungeons... c'mon, I'm sure there was at least a few that would be against Voldemort!!

Talking about films, I enjoyed Captain America a little bit more than Thor, mostly because of Chris Evan's stupid face xD I also went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes which was good too. When I first heard about it I thought it'd be completely rubbish, but it's not! And Super 8 comes out this friday, but I'll have to wait until at least monday because on friday I'm going to a concert and then I work saturday and sunday until 10pm. There are posters all around the city and I love them, lensflare and all.

For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.

As I said last time, while it's frustrating not to have access, LJ is a lot more than a social network platform. From the article:

"LiveJournal isn’t just a social network. It’s also a platform for organizing civic action. Dozens of network projects and groups mobilize people to solve specific problems — from defending the rights of political prisoners to saving endangered historic architecture in Moscow."

So while I know many are considering the move over to Dreamwidth and other such sites, supporting LJ is a way we can help support those who use it for more than a writing/roleplaying/social venue.

Also, as a FYI, LJ is giving paid users effected by the outage two weeks of paid time as compensation.

I survived the first day! Everything went ok, we didn't have many people (we weren't bored but there was no need for a queue, thank god, because the office is tiny and it's been raining all day). The only thing was that the computers didn't work properly and we couldn't log the questions and sales.

I checked to see if the tickets for Deathly Hallows were available, and the good seats (the two colums in the middle) were already sold! So I bought the ticket online, which is the first time I've done it because it's more expensive. But as it turns out, I only paid 40 cts more than if I had bought it at the cinema. I will never understand the discounts, but thanks XD I'm going alone, I was hoping that maybe this week I'd find somebody to go with but whatever. Also a bunch of people buying the tickets early probably means that they are hardcore fans who won't look at me like I'm crazy if they notice me crying. I'm not really fond of the films (the only one I like to rewatch is PoA) but I really like the cast and goodbyes always get me.

These past couple of weeks I've been playing Lego Harry Potter on my NDS and I love it. Yes, it's super easy but it's so much fun, and there are so many things to collect that it's quite long. I bought one Proffesor Layton in March, but I stopped playing because I got stuck in a riddle and I don't want to cheat.
