Robi Axiata PLC has become Bangladesh’s first telecom operator to secure authorised reseller status for Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency satellite internet service, marking a major step in expanding digital connectivity across the country.

The company recently signed an agreement with Starlink to formalise the partnership.

Under the agreement, Robi will offer both local priority and global priority Starlink services, covering fixed and portable connectivity solutions.

The initiative is expected to support critical digital activities such as video conferencing, e-learning, cloud computing, and e-commerce, while also helping reduce the digital divide in underserved regions.

Robi plans to deliver the service through its enterprise sales channels and authorised retail outlets. Additionally, the operator is exploring the launch of community-sharing Wi-Fi networks to make affordable internet more widely available in rural areas.

Shihab Ahmad, Robi’s Chief Commercial Officer, described the deal as "a transformative step toward bridging Bangladesh’s digital divide."

He added, “By bringing high-speed satellite internet to remote regions, Robi is enabling access to essential digital services that will accelerate inclusion, innovation, and sustainable growth.”

The initiative aims to provide reliable satellite internet to businesses, government offices, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and rural communities, particularly in areas where traditional network infrastructure is limited or nonexistent.
