I watched Burlesque last night. Brilliant movie, enjoyed it immensely. Really worth seeing.

Huge, all-star cast that worked strongly together. The one disappointment was how little screen time Dianna Argon (Quinn from Glee) had, I had been looking forward to her part and wished she could have been given a bigger role.

Will definitely be buying the DVD when it comes out, which is high praise from me.

- 75% of Queensland is underwater.

Just to put into perspective... The land mass of the state of Queensland is 1,852,642km sq or 715,309 miles sq. 75% of this is currently flooded and under water. That's 536,481 sq miles.

To put this in perspective, you have to add the land masses of the states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, and South Carolina together, and add about 300 sq miles just to reach the flooded area in equivalent sq miles - according to the math listed on wikipedia.

- They're talking about blowing up the Model Ferry and the Island Party Boat to stop them breaking loose and slaming into bridges and causing more damage. Also the floating riverwalk

- Queensland's Parliament House is going underwater

- Suncorp Stadium has been flooded

- The Drift, formally Oxley's on the River, has sunk

- Tomorrow's flood peak will last 12-18 hours, ariving at 3am tomorrow

- 19,700 homes to flood

- Death toll now 12, 51 missing and grave fear for 9

- Ecoli found in flood waters in Chinchilla

- Repairing and rebuilding Queensland's flood-damaged infrastructure will take at least two years and cost billions of dollars

- 19 metre peak to come

This video was taken in Toowoomba yesterday. Toowoomba is around 700 metres (2,300 ft) above sea level.

Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane.

It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane.

I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park.

I hate to spoil the holiday cheer but I need a rant.

There's a new law that's about to be passed in Queensland that will legalise abortion. I don't support abortion, though I do understand that there are some circumstances where a baby cannot be born but getting rid of a pregnancy just because you do not want it is wrong, especially when there are so many people around who are eager to adopt.

The reason why I am ranting about this new law is that, if it's passed, a baby will be able to be aborted right up to birth.

That's right, a baby that has been brought fully to term can be aborted. At 9 months.

We live in a very sick world.

I came home from class to find our kitchen had been taken over by my sister and her best friend, who is American, as they cooked up a HUGE Thanksgiving feast.

I was even more surprised to come out from my office a few hours later to discover they'd left and taken the food with them *sad face*

They did, however, leave me a minature pumpkin pie which was beyond amazing.

So to all the American's (or people who just like to celebrate holidays) on my flist; Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a fantastic day, a great meal and a lovely time with friends and family.

And to the rest of my flist; happy Thursday. :)

Last week of college and it's safe to say that I'm freaking out. Just a ~~bit~~ lot. Stupidly of me, I've decided to go back again next year.

I've not been sleeping lately so I've spent my nights curled up in bed with my Kindle, reading J2 AU fics. Why is it that in just about every Jensen/Jared AU story, every other guy in it seems to be gay too? What's up with that?

I sent an application in to Torquere Press about a month ago. I've not heard back.

I also applied for an internship at a graphic art company. And again, not heard back.

My sister's best friend is getting married in June and I, somehow, have been volunteered to do all the design jobs. Pro bono. Not quite sure how that happened.

I have about 8 projects on the go at the moment and my head seems to be a whirl of confusion.

There's about a hundred, million other things that have happened but I can't remember half of them.

How are you all, my lovelies?

ONTD has gotten so huge that LJ took on a staffer to deal with the community. That would be brenden, ONTD editor.

He is known for being a jerk in general, but in a recent news post, he crossed a line. Full stop.

He was the first user to comment on the news post, with a .gif to support the content of the post. He then logged out, and proceeded to log into a sock puppet account, from which he harassed, verbally abused, and straight-up trolled LiveJournal users who did not support the content of the post. Evidence (copies of e-mail notifications) from one user has been posted here.

As an LJ staff member who was caught actively trolling LJ users, brenden has received no consequences, and other LJ staff have failed entirely to comment on the incident, and the sock puppet's comments have been deleted from the news post. This despite clamorings from many users (myself included) for some sort of repercussions.

Indeed, if anything, brenden was rewarded: the sock puppet's account was given a vgift for a good comment on a news post, which had very suspicious timing. In addition, the mobile version of LJ has gotten a facelift very similar to the one given to the LiveJournal homepage recently and which we all protested, heavily featuring communities, particularly ONTD.

If you are a member of ONTD, even if you just lurk and never comment, this is the system you are condoning. This is the system you are supporting.
