Social media is not real life
Social media is not for everyone and that is ok.
I don’t know if it’s for me.
It’s ebbs and flows, it’s a part of my expression with writing.
I take tons of breaks.
I mute /block any person or platform that makes my anxiety worse.
I don’t take the bait (anymore) with rage, emotional outbursts and trauma dumping.
To the influencers- & content creators-who I have criticized in my writing - for misinformation and duplicity.--
I hope you know that you are worth more than the algorithm.
Your intrinsic value is not within likes, reshares and “I’m obsessed with you” s.
We live in a celebrity -hero worship society.
And part of that is from social media.
And we see it played out in all avenues of life from politics to music to films.
This post comes from being asked directly in my DMS.. to support people's social media through -shares and reshare. (Asking followers directly to do this is different- and not a boundary thing).
Or being asked to support kids via their socials -in various ways .
While there is nothing inherently wrong with this in itself - I found myself saddened that kids are under pressure to get support on social media for fundraising or school projects.
I think this should be an optional part of their childhood.
Social Media pressure is the last thing I think anyone “needs.”
It is not a requirement for success - but unfortunately it is touted as one from almost every single platform imaginable.
** this is not a diss on people who use social media and are successful- it is an observation that it does not need to be a requirement for living a whole peaceful existence
.
