What is LACBEE?
LACBEE (Liberal Arts Colleges Behavioral and Experimental Economics) is an annual conference designed specifically for faculty working in behavioral and experimental economics at liberal arts colleges. The workshop aims to establish research and mentoring networks while providing a platform for discussing the teaching of experimental and behavioral topics. Participants are encouraged to present early-to-mid-stage work to receive focused feedback, particularly on experimental designs before implementation.
The fifth in-person workshop will be hosted by Middlebury College in June 2025, following previous iterations at Colorado College, Carleton College, and Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges. The event includes research presentations, mentoring discussions, and covers topics such as grade inflation, policy narratives, racial animus, gendered outcome bias, AI feedback impact, partisan beliefs, heuristic decision-making, generative AI learning impact, and experimenter demand effects. There is no registration fee, with meals provided, though participants cover their own lodging and transportation.
