wax wax baby.
Today has been spent in a gallery hacking, melting and pouring wax. As a result, I've been covered in melted wax all over my hands and up my forearms. I think the three of us doing it will all end up with wax fetishes. We were all enjoying it quite a lot by the end of the day! Although it is bloody hot...
We'll be back there to do more on Wednesday. There's gallons of it to do...probably did about 50 litres today? And there's more than that left.
It's all solid blocks at the moment, so we need to hack it up, too. I've been doing it with a hatchet and a dead hammer. One of the boys was using a chisel, another guy from the gallery was using a cold chisel. I think the hatchet is best ;)
I'll put up pics when we're done.
Today the guy from the foundation which owns the art work was there. At one point he threw his hands in the air and walked out! It was so cliched.
There's also an interesting question - we're melting/pouring new wax, into a container which was entirely remade from new materials by the gallery staff on Friday.... so is it really the same art?? ;)
