Car buying...part two.
So, I had a figure in mind at which I thought we were getting a good deal on the car.
I emailed the dealer and said 'We really like the car, but it is more expensive than your rivals. Make me an offer and we'll see if we can come to some sort of deal'. (because we do like it more than the others.)
I waited, this figure in mind, to see what her offer would be...
..it was the price I had in mind. For the next model up, rather than the model we were looking at. So that's an upgrade, and a good price.
Which has rather thrown me, as now I'm sure I could get a better deal than the best deal I thought I'd get! She is clearly more desperate to sell than we had thought! So I've made a list of everything else I want - we shall see where this gets us. I've had to re-evaluate my entire haggling scheme.
