back to life, back to reality
After such a lovely run of long weekends...back to work. (Although another bank hol soon - yay!!).
Not that work is a bad thing! I'm making this at the moment

Yes, that's a slightly crap artist's impression. But essentially, that's it. Rainbow Arch, in Burnley. Although some places call it Rain Bow Arch.
This is what I started on yesterday - a leg:

As usual, I'll do a run down of my welding table...left to right! My gauntlets (they don't match. I need new ones. They did indeed start out yellow and white, respectively. Now they have a LOT of holes. The piece of stainless is to go where the leg joins the main body of the top. There are no flat surfaces to this thing - everything is curved, usually in two directions. In the middle of that is my welding torch. I've removed the trigger and trigger guard and the back of the welder. Put a cut-down tungsten in it, a button back and taped the trigger to the very bottom of the torch. Otherwise I can't fit the torch between the layers of stainless.
And here are some welds - one done right handed (my dominant hand) the other left. Don't think you can tell! There's so much welding on this project, I need to be able to weld every way up, both hands, in awkward spaces etc. so I started practicing. I don't do enough TIG nowadays to keep my skills up.

In other news, another boy at work is leaving.
And then there were 6...
He's massively, massively annoying. And he and I have argued at least once per week or the last while. Not sad he's going. But the boss really will have to employ some more people at some point...
