Teeth. Phones. Antelope.

Finally got home at 10pm on Friday, having left work at 8pm, once we'd got two coats of rubber on the antelopes. (they're just small, wooden statues of antelope. Let me find a picture to explain.

That's an antelope. In half a mould. It's a rubber two-piece mould with a Jesmonite jacket. Which means we paint three layers of rubber on the 'Lope, then three coats of Jesmonite (which is a cheap, hard, plasticy stuff, and we reinforce it with glass fibres) This means that although the mould is rigid when we pour, when we demould we remove the jacket first, and can then very gently remove the cast 'Lope. Because they have very delicate horns, and are being cast in graphite/soft plaster mixes.

This is the first layer of rubber going on is a detail layer, so we paint it on with no thixotrope.

Like that. the next two layers we can paint on up to 5-10 mm at a time, as we put in a 1% thixo additive into the mix.

In order to know which antelope is which we were told to mark them (grazing, sitting and staring). So we've called them Betty, Henrietta and Marmaduke. Well, we know which is which. The Boss had a bit of a moan yesterday morning "I didn't know it would take so long. Didn't think it would be this complicated." Well perhaps you shouldn't have quoted on a job you know nothing about then? (He doesn't know how to make moulds. We think he thought we could do a single-piece cast rubber mould. Which would have been unsuitable for how delicate these are.)

This morning I went to the dentist, and was told I have brilliant teeth. Again. It's just barely worth going, IMO. But hey, I want to keep good teeth, so I shall.

And I'm getting a new phone sometime this week - upgrade time!!

I'm thinking either HTC Wildfire, LG Viewty GT or LG Optimus One. (I want a phone that's a free upgrade). If anyone has any thoughts, speak to me.
