How does this work again?
Sorry, it's been bloody ages. Do you care? I dunno!
Work is...well, pretty shitty. We did a big job, and just when we thought we'd finished it, the weld spec failed the weld tests. So we're now cutting out over 10,000 welds and re-welding them. Cutting is hot, welding is hot, its generally hot. I taped a temperature probe inside my face shield the other day, and got to 54ºC (129.2F). And that's inside the thing which keeps the heat off my face. I'm drinking so much water I fear for my electrolyte balance!
It's also taking ages, very noisy and costing us a lot of money. So it's all miserable, really!
However, apart from that, life is good! Jojo and I celebrated our 11th anniversary yesterday, well - we're celebrating all weekend! Yesterday we had a lovely walk, and then went out to dinner in the evening. Today we went out to lunch, then Jojo bought me some running shoes for my birthday, which are lovely. I went and had my gait looked at, and the guy in the running shop recommended a few pairs, so I ended up with Asics 2150s, in a D width (the widest they do) I've always had a problem with getting trainers wide enough, but these are great. So now I need to walk with them this week, then start running with them next week. I've signed up to powerwalk 26 miles overnight next May, but I generally want to become a lot fitter than I am. And in that spirit, I've already lost a stone (well, 7kgs, actually!) in the last few months. So I'm very happy about that. Although I don't know where I've lost it from. The rules say it should be my boobs, because it always comes off the bits you don't want it to! But it hasn't. And it hasn't come off my waist...so I dunno! Maybe an even skim all over?? Hard to tell when it's you, cos you see yourself everyday. But anyway, I'm now very inspired to lose more. Apparently, to be my ideal weight, I need to lose 6.5 stone!! But I honestly think there'd be nothing of me if I did that! So I'll be happy just to lose three or four, really. And be fit. I'd rather be fit, but a bit heavy, than unfit and skinny. Plus I have a decent amount of muscle, which won't be going anywhere, I hope.
The weather here is stunning, and this weekend is the 'paddle round the pier' festival by my flat - basically it's a big festival with music and stalls and funtimes, and the focus is various 'paddles' around the end of the pier. Some things being paddled are things which are intended for that purpose - canoes, kayaks, paddleboards etc. The next is anything which you own/have made which YOU think will get you around the pier. So there was an entire small football pitch, complete with goals and ball (on a string!) and all sorts of home-made rafts etc. It's very sunny, but rather windy today - so I hope they all make it! There are plenty of boats and lifeguards to supervise proceedings.
