feel the BURN
I was out in the sun all day today. This has led me to become like a cooked ham. My shoulders are dead pink.
Serves me right, prolly, but I honestly didn't have any other clothes to put on (apart from my huge thermal hiviz winter coat...cos it was raining when I left the yard this morning). And, cos the job's gotta be done, I couldn't hide in the shade neither. (such good grammar - you go girl!) Plus we didn't have our van, which has our suncream in it. Tsk. We just got dropped off on site this morning, with our bikes and nowt else.
Anyways, I've been after-sunning like a demon, so hopefully I won't peel or anything.
However, all the guys noticed I was burnt when I got back to the yard this evening, and are all going to creep up on me tomorrow and try to whip/slap/punch my arms to cause me pain. This is the kind of workforce I live with. Lovely. Earlier Ph grabbed me and started rubbing my arm on a brick wall to try to scratch up the burns and make them worse. I put my knee in close proximity to his dangly bits and pinched his nipple in retaliation and he stopped.
The people we were working for were...well, slightly unhinged. Had a massive domestic over the design of the balcony we were installing whilst we were right there...great. Woman was just grumpy and full of hate for us. In the end we couldn't fit the entire job because they were still arguing over stuff. Plus the only way we had to get up or down from the balcony (because we weren't allowed to set foot inside the house AT ALL - not even for the toilet or to plug in power cords etc.) was off the top of a ladder (steps) that was short of the roof by a good metre - probably more. It was a proper leap of faith getting up there, and worse getting down again, cos you had to climb around all the guttering/soffits etc. without leaning on them/damaging them. So just sort of dropping off the roof, blind, knowing that either you'd hit the top step - which is maybe 3 inches wide by 9 across - or just fall to the ground. It's not fun. Specially when their paving was so uneven that the steps wobbled when you landed.
Anyways, I got a new contract tomorrow, so that'll keep me out of mischief.
