FOUR DAY WEEKEND!
It's been a lovely day again today...and again I was stuck in full BA all day ::woe is me:: I entirely blame SiBorg, as he refused to order me in polished lengths of stainless, so I'm polishing everything by hand. Although as I cycled home I did laugh at the THOUSANDS of people sitting in traffic jams miles and miles long all along the prom - I cycled right through the middle of everything, sun on my back, wind in my hair their fucking exhaust fumes in my lungs and all was good with the world!
Found some amusement at work in taking the polisher apart completely and giving it a good clean with the oxy-acetylene set (not alight, obviously...just using the oxy cylinder to blow it out.) Doesn't sound like much fun, possibly, but when your other option is spending 9 hours straight polishing, believe me, it's fun.
Had to arc weld this afternoon - I don't enjoy it. I've never learnt how to do it properly, but now it's assumed I know...I mean, jeez, I can gas weld, TIG, MIG, solder, silver solder and braze...the ONE thing I don't really do is arc...so that's what I get lumbered with. And to make it worse it's hardcore positional welding - I have to get me rod down a gap 20mm wide, 75mm deep and try to weld a 90 degree butt joint (no sniggering). It's a bastard, especially as I'm seriously lacking in the stick-skillz. On a happier note, no one will ever see it, as it's an internal joint...so, every cloud blahblah. My welder was so thick with dust that it took me about quarter of an hour to clean it off well enough to read the settings...that shows how often I use it. Mind, the TIG plant's been playing up something chronic lately too - especially for welding ali, which is what everyone seems to want right now. Sods law, eh?
Tonight I'm out for dinner - fab! And then FOUR DAY WEEKEND. Two days PAID! Yay! I'm going up to
jonboy1's tomorrow, and as I didn't see him at all last weekend I'm missing him loads - can't wait!
